I faced similiar problem. One of the key does not open/close the doors.......sometimes, ok and other times, no action at all! So, now I just live with one key........I was told you need to take both the keys back to Auto Bavaria to re-program.

How much they charge, bro? FOC? kekekeke...

I went there once (Sg Besi) and the technician just did a few "pressing here & there".......and it works. FOC.
Later that week, not working again..........so until now sometimes it works and other times, no action at all! I just live with one key at the moment!

Bro, both of you keys not working?

Looks like you need to bring both keys back to Auto Bavaria to re-program. Cost $$$ ? Don't know..........good luck and keep us posted once you have done it! ;)

Aiyo! Any forummers know how to do it? Pls!!!!

Not keen to bring & do cos I know for sure it'll go off again after a few weeks, if I'm lucky!

had the same problem with my E46...remote not working...went down to the local key guy and got the battery replaced..all works fine now..try that first..no need specialised knowledge

It depends, coz E46 have 2 types of keys :

a) Diamond - Rechargeable when car in running mode
b) Normal - Battery lifespan

Nuthin concern with key reprogramming unless u send your car to AB and they upgrade the ECU with latest software version. If this happen your sparekey will be stone age already.

a) Diamond Key E46 ( Mainly AB and CKD )

b) Normal Key E46 ( Mainly CBU and Recond )

Try this.

(1) Go in your car, put your key and turn to the position before starting up the car and leave there for 10 sec. ( close all doors )

(2) Turn the key to the usual position and take out the key.

(3) Hole the 1st button( open door lock ) on your key and while holding the 1st button, press the center button( round bmw logo) slowly for 3 times ( each time for 1.5sec ) and release.

Try it out. This should work.

Further Info :

If u lost a key or your UDM key is malfunction. what u need to do is bring original pink slip coz AB won't accept photostat copy unless it is fax direct from the bank provided the hire purchase agreement. You can ignore this requirement if u know somebody very well in AB. It will cost you RM900.00/pc and 5 working days to complete.
