Greetings,

Want to streamline my lighting since i have installed white LED angel eyes.

Yellow lighting is technically better than white halogen lights especially in rainy weather .

Much have been said of the pros and cons of using white lighting of different colour temperatures varying from yellowish to extreme white.

HID, as many have pointed out is still the best but aftermarket installation is illegal if the JPJ/police decides to act up and check every now and then, so I don;t want to go that route - which is also more expensive.

Correct me if I'm wrong but the E36 low beam and high beam use two bulbs, each of H1 size. And they are 55W, and one sholdn;t get bulbs of higher wattage otherwise the heat might damage reflectors, undermine wiring and shorten bulb life.

Philips/Osram have the following halogen bulbs of differing colour temps.

///////////////////

Philips X-tremeVision, 3350K

LongLife EcoVision, 3100K

Philips whitevision, 4100K light

Crystalvision 4300K - better light throw and less of the blueish tinge.

DiamondVision 5000K light

OR

Osram Silverstar 2.0

Osram Night Breaker Plus

////////////////////////////

HID aside, from what i have learn from various BMW forums, the best balance of light throw/distribution and shape/pattern for white halogen lighting is the 4300 K (Kelvin) Philips Crystalvision. The 4300K will still give a tinge of yellowish as bright white is at least 6000K.

So if i choose to go for the Crystalvision, do I need to buy four H1 bulbs (two for low beams; two for high beams)? Does Crystalvision have two filaments in each bulb that switches between low and high beams?

Does parts stockist PH Auto Enterprise of Seapark, PJ sell such bulb? I'm sure some of you would have tried Crystalvision. How does Crystalvision rate versus Osram Silverstar 2.0?

Let me know your experiences - good or bad.

Is there such a thing as aftermarket LED headlights for E36 now? (LEDs sips power so unless there's a regulator to fool the OBC, such lighting if available for E36, would trip error messages) I know Philips sell the X-treme Vision Festoon LED C5W 6000K 38mm LED bulbs but they are more for cabin lighting and/or car plate number lighting.
