just got back from Thailand...the petrol price there is the same as in Malaysia @ RM2.30/lt (BHT23/lt). how is that even possible?? Thailand imports almost all the oil they consume and Malaysia is one of the largest oil exporter in S.E.Asia. can somebody explain? are we being raped?

we must help them build big bungalows and travel in private jets while they arrest our 6 yr old daughters...

You hit it spot on bro! They got free fuel chauffeured driven, so who cares..

remember when people would always defend the taxes on cars by saying we get cheaper petrol to make up for it?

Wonder since crude oil is so much lower, will they put it back to RM1.92 ?

Cabinet has given okay for petrol price reduction, says Najib
By ROSLINA MOHAMAD

PEKAN: The Cabinet has given the go-ahead to further reduce petrol pump prices and an announcement may be made within a week.

“We had promised that if the global oil price goes down, the domestic fuel price will reflect the actual market price.

“The Cabinet has already given the mandate to the Economic Council to make the decision,” said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

On when the new prices would be announced, he said: “It can be within a week depending on when the meeting (of the Council) is held.”

Najib, who is Finance Minister, was commenting on the continuing fall of oil price which registered US$62 (RM221) per barrel on Friday.

In Johor Baru, Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Shahrir Abdul Samad said the reduction would not be more than 15 sen.

“We do not want a big reduction in prices resulting in huge losses for the petrol station operators.”

Najib said prices of some goods would be reduced in a day or two to reflect declining oil prices and several hypermarkets had agreed to work together with the Government on this.

On whether the global recession would hit Malaysia, Najib said: “Can you wait for Nov 4? I will come up with a complete response (then).”

He is expected to wind up his speech in Parliament on Nov 4, which will include a list of measures to buffer the impact of the current global financial crisis.

On the price of crude palm oil slipping to RM1,500 per tonne recently, he said the income of Felda settlers would definitely be lower.

He said the RM144.44mil productivity incentive bonus that the settlers would get in December would help them through the hard times.

droping in the crude oil price doesn't mean the cost of manufacturing will drop too.

Looking at how cheap gas can affect consumer buying habits (people like to buy bigger car when gas is cheap), I rather see the crude oil stay around USD100.

If gasoline price keep faling, a 325 will become a childplay.
When E36 325 is out, people where amazed. Now the bloody Accord is 3.5L !!

At USD62 a barrel, petrol price should be around RM2. Let's see the quantum of reduction when it happens this week. So for those of you that want to save the extra few dollars, do not pump full or half tank!

Cheers

Can't remember where I read, the revision wont be more than 15 sens. This is to prevent too much losses to the petrol dealers.

it was public news that the reduction will not be more than 15 cents to protect the petrol dealers (at the expense of the people). how lame & embarassing...

Yeah that was mentioned by Datuk Shahrir.

I supposed it is okie to protect the petrol dealers in the expense of millions of rakyat.

But then again, we never know, the drop could be more than 15 cents. Imagine if Datuk Shahrir said the drop will be 30 cents, all petrol kiosk owners will be reluctant to fill up their storage tanks! :) So there is still hope!! I HOPE :)

Cheers
