I place the Light selctor switch at Parking Lamp (Position 2) turn off the engine and locked the car. However the parking lamps remain on even after 10mins.

Is this normal for 2005 320i Pre-LCi E90? Please advice.

Guys, if I'm not mistaken u should turn the to position 1 if u wan the light to be switch off when u lock the car. If wan the 1 side parking light, u put on the side indicator light to left or right before locking the car.

position 1 is Auto lar. In this position, the headlight will automatically turn on when the outside ambient light is low.

For parking light, put the switch to Off (Vertical position) and toggle the signal light down all the way (left or right) and one light will stay on.

I thot BMW's parking light is activated by the indicator stalk??? This knob method is how the parking light is activated in the Merc.
I guess too many ppl don't know about this activation method via the indicator stalk.. As I recall, E46, E36 and even E30 has indicator stalk-activated parking light.

And yes, parking light will stay on when it's activated until you deactivate it or until the battery runs out... It's ok to leave it on overnight, it won't drain much power. But don't be a 'blonde' to leave it on when you go for 3 weeks of overseas trip...

I want to use the parking light as a DRL for my Angel Eyes Ring, so placing the knob at Parking light position will turn on the ring when i start the car.

However this would not work as after i lock the car, the Angel eyes ring stay on even after awhile.

I used a 10W LED for the Angel Eyes Ring and i worry that it might drain the battery if i forgot to swith it off ...

I see... well, now that you know what the driving light is for and the way it's meant to work, you have to find another way for your little 'project'...

So guys , if i ON the parking light say for an hour or two , will it drain the battery ? Thanks sifus .

My input here. When you want permanently and manually turn on DRL and parking light you switch to position 2. However its better to use auto mode and if you want on DRL as well, you can set it at the OBC stalk. Position 2 will discharge the battery according to manual (as per your visual). I drive '09 320i. I presume it will be the same as yours.

For my e92 and f10 - I had the DRL's to turn on every time i unlock my car, you have to set your home lights ON ( you can set the duration the light will go on) in your idrive settings and then put your lights switch to auto(position 1). It should go off when you lock it.

I left it on for around 4+hours after a gaming session at my friends house during CNY and the battery was fine :)
