Hi all, im driving an E36 M4018 auto. After months of saving & considerations, finally im going to do something to make my babe turn to a more responsive UDM.I got few options & seeking for advise from sifus here...Option 1: Change to a manual tranny.- How many batch or type of manual tranny can fit my M40?which 1 is better?- Lower figure of rear diff mean better response or better top speed? How many types of rear diff?3.15?3.45?Option 2: Change to 320 (manual)- M50B20=non vanos, M52B20=single vanos, M52TUB20=double vanos am i right?- From wikipedian: M50 & M52=148hp & 19N-m the difference are the M52 kicks in erlier. But im wonder M50's halfcut availablity in M'sia, can anyone share where could i get it?- According to wikipedia on M52: The world market engine used Nikasil lined aluminium cylinders instead of a cast iron cylinder block, resulting in lighter engines. While, the american market engine retained its cast iron block due to the sulfer content of available fuel. However, there was criticism of the M52 engine in some markets, especially the UK, which had high levels of sulfur in the petrol during the late 90's. Sulfur acts as a corrosive agent against Nikasil and led to a lot of the early engines having premature bore-liner wear. In many situations the engine required a complete and expensive rebuild. Fortunately this problem was solved in post-September 1998 cars with the introduction of steel cylinder liners, with the designation M52 TU-3. However problems still present in these engines so affected cars of this period should be bought with caution unless the service history verifies that work was carried out to rectify the problem. The American market M52 used a cast iron block, and so, was unaffected by this problem.can anyone rectify the info above?- If the info above correct, then M50B20 shall be the engine im looking for as it's halfcut price might be cheaper & won't have the problem same as M52's premature bore-liner wear. Please advise sifu of M52...I know manual tranny for E36 are really rare but i rather spend a little more time & $ to get an manual...Milloan thanks in advance for anyone who willing to help & share...:top:

Just buy a 325 single vanos half cut and transplant everything. Should be good enough :)

Hey Mr. Albundy, thanks for ur prompt reply!

may I know the rough figure of 325 half cut (manual) cost & labour charge?

Probably about RM6.5K for the halfcut. The labour charge varies..
