it is not mundane bro.. just that perhaps your expectations exceed what the M40 was designed for. kept healthy, it is actually a pretty good engine as a daily driver. now, if you want your E30 to participate in traffic lights or toll booth races, you'll need six cylinders :wink:

I did an overhaul on my M40 some years back, although I can't remember exactly what was changed. Did not notice significant performance difference after, but the reason I did it was because it was leaking oil and I now run full synthetic without any problems or oil consumption issues. Cost was rm2k+ I think.

The M40 is fine as a daily, but my main pet peeve with it is the noise. It's got that annoying sewing machine noise which I've heard, isn't worth chasing.
