Greetings forummers Need some advise from this forum group .. decided to get 520d as I was reading thread about 520d and test drove the car .. love it and got the car last week .. here's what happen - 3 days after I got the car .. while at the traffic light .. suddenly a warning comes out at the console stating that the Driving Stability failure .. my car stalled .. then I called the sales guy and he asked me to stop the engine and restarts the car .. did that and everthing is Ok .. 4 days later .. it happen again .. but this time .. the wiper and the signal indicator came out as well .. called BMW and asked to do the same (turn off the engine and restart) .. they asked me to send the car for them to check .. went to AB Glenmarie for check up and to top it off the service was appaling .. big time !! they can't even tell me when can they solve the problem and they don;t have any car to ease my traveling problem ..sigh!!My question : 1. Have any of you guys had this problem ? Can it be solved? ( they told me it might be the sensors ) 2. Should I write a formal complaint .. the car is just a week old and only 600km .. upset that this could happen to me ? 3. To whom should I direct my complaint? 4. is it possible to get a replacement car?Still upset about the car actually .. anyways thanks in advance for the advise given .. having said all those things .. I have no regret gettong the 520d .. love the car .. but maybe not the one that AB allocate for me !!!!!

Your problem sounds familiar. Try take a look at the post in this thread, it could be the same problem as yours. Maybe you can find some pointers there.

had experience same problem albeit different mechanical problem. Had to replace my 520d power steering rack & module due to error while programming after changing (under warranty) the i-drive controller due to no illumination lights at the knob ring, tel & nav buttons. My car had to spent her time at AB JB for warranty part replacement for about 23 days until I collected the car on 4th January.
My advise is to voice your complain to BMW Malaysia via BMW voice. Why ? coz all of the sudden after i made a complain via BMW voice on the the next day the Service Manager called me that the part is arriving from german after been informed it will took sometimes for the part to be arrived due to festive season.
I think you should get a loan car from car AB Glenmarie as I had been given a loaner 320d. (Just sent it back on last Wednesday) In JB at first I don't even been offered a courtesy car for me to go back to KL by the Service Manager instead i've been offered to be sent to Larkin Bus Station to take a bus to KL:14: . Had to voice my complain to sales manager and without any fuss gave me an X1 for me to traveled back to KL which i change it after 2 days to 320d from Glenmarie.
Now will see how's my car doing after the repair and software update if it's happen again like this i'm seriously plan to change to other brand or perhap buy myself a double decker bus to chauffeur me on north south highway.

I experience something similar on my 2 month old 528i M sport with 2200km on it. Drive terrain lights came on and cannot drive above 1500 rpm. 2 weeks in AB Tun Razak and they replaced the DME unit. There was a 523i and 535i with same issue as well. The 523i couldnt start. DME takes 4 working days to come from Germany but to authorize replacement they have to do numerous tests and get BMW Malaysia to sign off purchase. I understand it is RM30k a piece. AB Tun Razak were nice enough to give me a curtesy 523i, thank you for that.
Its been a month and all's good and smooth with my M sport, now 3500 km.
I was told that this is a birth defect so new DME with updated software (Nov11) is the best way to go. They told me additional hp but I don't believe it.
All the best to you sir, don't worry. It is a common enough problem now that can be resolved. The car is born like that.

thus i think its better to get local dealer BMW rather than Grey AP bmw , i think if grey AP bmw they will give you the round about and tell you to live with it
RM 30k cost will eat into their profit margin or maybe they get the DME from ebay/half cut and make your car BMW frankenstein . 528 with 523 due or something like that. thats the reason i think most get from local dealer at least we can voice our complain to BMW malaysia. i do not think bmw will provide goodwill repair on ap spec car even its BMW. i heard of this issue at BMW UK where 1 guy brought from non authorized bmw dealer and when his trans kaput, they want to charge him 8K pound , and he was making a hell lots of noise but BMW uk does not budge.

Just an update .. got back the car .. was informed that they have to change the sensor that relates to DSC .. so I hope everything will be OK from now on .. I will give AB hell if it give me problem again !! Anyway still love the 520d .. such an excellent car except for the sound of the engine lah .. but once u step inside the car .. u won't notice the sound anymore !!
I also have problem with my AB JB. My air con at the back sometime working sometime not. Went there already four times in 3 months. The tinted job is terrible. Had change 2 times but still see so many big bubbles. more frustration, they claim that they use Huper Optik. Just want to enquiry, I heard there is Huper for 70 and 40, but has anyone heard 60?
