Hi, Ive been hearing alot bout offsets compatibility and incompability (if theres such a word), so maybe you gurus can list down what are the offsets meant for which model 3 series so that it may help us choose our rims. Or is offset important? Thanks in advance, just a curious cat:) REgards

If I remember correctly, 3-series like E36 E46 & E90 share similar offsets of around 35 for both front and rear.
Whereas. the E30 has different bolt patterns / designs.

We can basically swap wheels / rims between E46 & E90. However, putting in wheels from E46 & E90 onto an E36 would require some measurements because on the smaller arches in the rear.

hmmm i see, so i guess its time to look for E90 wheels for my E46:)

E90 wheels wont fit for all E46, only for M3

for normal E46 max wud be ET35, anything lower u have to roll your fender

If I am right, both E36 & E46 share offset of ET38

Yes, tires offset is important. The very first problem of improper offset is premature wear out of your wheel bearing. "Bad" offset also limit/reduce your suspension effectiveness (suspension is not doing what it suppose to do), include short lifespan of tires, oversteer, understeer, tramlining, and etc.

Usually +/- of 5mm offset (Example, for E36 : ET33-ET43) is permissble but not recommended.
