Dear ALL,Recently fix an On Board Computer (OBC) in my car and it works well, all functions are working except TEMP. Now I'm looking for the temp sensor for it, can anyone tell me where is that sensor normally located in the car? I just need to find the wire and install the sensor to it. Can someone show me the picture of how the sensor looks like...please..or can I use the sensor fix on the air cond condenser...? and any idea how much that temp sensor cost?THANKS for your reply.... :)

Could it be u r missing a wire harness to the temp sensor? As far as I know, u need a specific wiring to totally run that OBC. As a matter of interest, r u using ur stock bracket mounting to the OBC? Is it as simple as plug-out clock, plug in OBC? I was informed an "OBC-meant" bracket is needed.

Mr. Tongstriani, i got a bunch of wires connected to the OBC.., so I think there are sufficient wires to run the OBC. And like I mentioned, others functions are working well: timer, time/date, ETA, Average Fuel consumption, Range (estimated distance in km which can be covered by balance fuel in the tank), set speed limit & etc..I cut the rear side of the bracket in order to mount the OBC coz its longer than analog clock. That's what I try to find out the wire harness for temp sensor..it maybe located somewhere under front bumper.., also looking for the sensor..wonder how it looks like. :dunno:

Thanks mr. dvng for mentioning mr teejay for reference...hope he will reply this post ASAP.. :)

Thanks...

do u have m50 wiring diagram ??

check the wire resistance to make sure ur temperature connected in close circuit..

u can check with teejay, he's the obc expert.......
hahahah.......more like ex-OBC expert....

wan,
believe temp sensor may have its own wiring going into the OBC
but i have heard that all e34 are wired equipped, so if thats the case, there should be a connector in front of the bumper area underneath, nearer to the foglights are, or just near to the rear of the headlights

the temp sensor has a matching male or female connector pattern and runs down to near the brake ducts or a mount nearer to the bumper

it looks similair to this, but connector maybe slightly different

Thanx for sharing Wan! I actually have an OBC+brackets on-loan from a good friend. The only wires I see is on the bracket from the air-con, just a strip of it. Was told to just connect wires originally from the clock to OBC, done!

Hey! Is this OBC useful? ;) I can see ur HU stuck out ler...

Hi Wan & Teejay,

It seems e34 that comes with analogue clock will not have outside temp sensor mounted. But there is a quote from a user:

"It was located behind the radiator in the same place where the horn is mounted, i.e. in the centre of the car, behind the grill in between the lights. The wiring harness was coiled up and clipped out of the way"- e34 525i (A) SE UK Specs

Hope this helps ;)

THANKS teejay....can I use temp sensor from other car..merc or japanese car..or do you have any extra temp sensor? or any idea where can I get it?

tongsatriani, Thanks for the info.., HU stuck out coz it cannot mounted in properly..many wires at the rear HU..anyway that HU (Naka cassete player)is for temporarily use only coz my CD rusak...looking for another CD player..have you install the loan OBC?

Have not Wan :( 1st, was told take lot of time; 2nd, it's not ez; 3rd, muz have certain ECU la this la that la. But I know it works as it works on ur ride & my friends ride. If it's really useful & informatic, will fix it in ;)

Can give some encouragement? :(

wan,

there is a possibility of using the merc ones, but you have to add a resistor value, i cant remember offhand, because it was a long time ago, but u can actually borrow one and measure the resistance and make up by adding a resistor

no idea about jap ones, cause never heard any jap cars having OBC / temp reading sensor....
