Sifus, i am getting Error on OBC after the Angel & HID lights installation. What can be the Problem ? but once i power on the Error will go away. Please advise.

This is normal & common issue when retrofit HID on your BMW.

Reason is microswitch/IC in your check control (CC) system does not receive any signal back from the HID ballast, normal halogen buld does allow the signal/current to pass through then flow back to CC.

Possible solution is to add certain value of resistors somewhere in headlight wiring, but please leave this to expert/pro, otherwise your car may get burnt!!!

Someone please correct me, if I'm wrong.

yah, your car no projector lamps as standard should not put HID. error I think can mod, most HID installers know how to rectify this. It needs some kinda component, ballast I think with the same voltage that your old lights used to read...I hope you got the projector lenses , without projector lenses, ppl will curse you because of the ultra bright light.

You can go the expensive by change your LCM. Cost around RM700++ I think

Bro. What is LCM ? Where to get this ?

Mine is Projector lights, and it OEM BWM. i bought it from MotorSports Division.

Thanks

It's the fuse for the headlight diagnostic. If memory serves me right, its fuse no.32. I could be wrong, just recheck it with the chart that's on the fuse cover.

With early angel eyes, the installation interrupts the current (and blinks when the igniction is turned on), causing the error to appear on the OBD. Pulling the fuse stops that diagnostic, but any future blown bulbs will not bring up the error.

Common problem, it seems that only China made HIDs give the error but philips ones don't. That is wat I heardlar. Anyway there is 2 ways to defeat the error.

1st : Install a condenser/capacitor in parallel to the car's original H7 wiring. Note the positive and negative connections as the capacitor is also polarised. You should use a value of 10,000uF(can purchase this from electronic part shops)

2nd : There is a relay + resistor circuit running around the web. You have to do some searching for it. It will also by pass the error.

actually there is one more. The guy that sold you the HID should have a KIT that also disables the error. If he did not offer you the KIT then he might not be an experienced installation especially on a BMW. But I think the KIT is also one of these solutions that I have mentioned above.

Thanks Bro. Very Good Info. Any recomended workshop can do this ?

soorian,

motorsport div very experienced with this fault, no?

tried the kedai lampu few doors away? maybe pay abit thay kowtim for you?

LCM = Light control module. If your car originally came without xenon then your LCM will not work properly if you change your headlight to xenon. Even if you do all the tricks mentioned e.g. install/pull fuse; you might still have flicker problems. The proper way is to change to a LCM that supports xenon. Try this page and you will understand http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=AM54&mospid=47690&btnr=61_1060&hg=61&fg=35 Hope it helps. Remember if your car has the front and back fog lights make sure you buy the one with both the switches for front and rear fogs. Also you need to get it program to work with your new xenon and your mileage reading on your LCM.

In summary below is what you should do:

1) Check your LCM part number and if your LCM do support xenon then just get it program.

2) Get a new LCM that supports xenon

3) Install it and get it program to xenon and alos program your mileage.

Are your new headlight original bmw? For your angle eyes prob I don't have a solution for ya.

Hi Soorian, can i know what is the display on the obd? I just installed angel eyes on my e46 (kena racun by u guys lar!!) and the next day i noticed that the engine oil pressure warning light comes on for a few seconds everytime I start my car. I have checked the engine oil dipstick but it is within normal range and i've just serviced my car last month.. Weird.. Now, i am thinking of installing HIDs but it sounds like it's gonna complicate the matter with so many things to change as recommended by tamade7..
