New rims rubbing against fenders.. what to do?

Rather than live with the rubbing, you can try what Zul suggested, which is to lessen your positive offset by using spacers. Of course, that may give you rubbing on the fender instead when your suspension is compressed. Then you can try rolling the front fenders.

There are lots of guys on 19" wheels and fat tires without any body rubbing problems. I'm still of the opinion that you should get your whole set up checked by a professional wheel and tire shop before you spend a few thousand more changing your tires. It'll be $$$ wasted if the problems are still there. Eg, on your suspension, you said you went back to your originals after trying the cross coilovers. But looking at the photo, your ride looks agressively lowered, even lower than my stock M-suspension. So are you certain that it came with original stock suspension? Get all these things checked out by a pro, take the guesswork out of it, and your solution won't be expensive guesswork either.

I have seen his car and setup too. Car is not that low as compared to mine (in fact mine is much lower than his and I believe my offset is more aggressive than his too) and his is not msport suspension (just a standard suspension). However the rims offset is aggressive and to add problem to it, he is using a bigger tire size. For our e92 335i coupe, if we want to use 19' wheels, it is best recommended to use 235/35/19 front and 265/30/19 rear but our bro here is using 245 front and this obviously rub against the body especially the front part where there is a cover for intercooler.

My take is to reduce the tire size to 235/35/19 and this will definitely solve the rubbing problem. Adding spacer does not help. Or alternatively, try to do some work on the intercooler cover.

Schwepps, I think both zul & DY already conclude that since my prob is abt rubbing the front wall where the oil cooler is (again, sorry for mis-statement earlier in the post) then, it is most likely bcoz iof the over-sized tyres I'm using.. No longer d offset problem..

But its cool to find out what is my rim offset.. Again, I've taken off d rims both in singapore and in KL, and in both occassion, the mechanics failed to find the offset imprint that is ever so often on the inside of the rims.. Maybe they are not professional enough? Not sure abt that.. But any suggestion where I can go where they will measure the offset for me? Don't mind paying but wanna be sure its d real job.. :p

And oh yeah, wasn't lucky enough to get d m-sport suspension coz always planned to upgrade to aftermarket suspension.. Current setup is stock.. Maybe springs too soft, result car looks lowered.. Not as low as DY tho..

:D

That's cool. If that be the case, why not change just the front tires? Your back's been fixed by the fender rolling, right? Your tires should be new enough to try flogging off to a 19" buff.

Very strange that there's no offset marking. I don't know where you can measure it professionally, but you could do it yourself easily by following the instructions on the link I gave you. Even a straight strip of wood will do, if you don't have a meter-long ruler. But you'll still have to do it at a tire shop as the tire will have to be dismounted from the wheel.

You could also estimate it using DY's ET28 offset as a reference. Clarify your terminology again: what do you mean when you say that your offset is more aggressive than DY's? Do your wheels jut out more (less aggressive +ve offset) or do they jut out less (more aggressive +ve offset) Eg, if they jut out more by say 10mm, then your offset is about ET18. And vice versa.

Unless your photo played tricks because of the low lighting, your ride height is definitely lower than my stock M-suspension. :)

What brand tyre U use? I'm looking Michelin PS2 for my M3 - 245/35-19". If PS2 then I can help U, buy the tyre from u then U can buy the size 235/35-19" for your front tyre.
