Hi Guys,A new BMW owner here. Been driving Protons and Japs all my life. Got bored of their soulless drives after a while. After much research on the internet and reading these forums, I recently found and treated myself to a BMW 525i - a 2003 E39 model (local Auto Bavaria specs). I've only owned it for about 5 weeks, but I'm loving this old heap of Bavarian metal so, so much! :DHope to exchange ideas and thoughts about everything BMW with everyone here! ;)

Official members get that nice BMWClubMalaysia sticker rite? LOL :D
That's quite a nice accessory to have for my UDM! :D

Thanks bro!
Got a lot to learn!
This is my first BMW and I've gotta admit, reading all these forums, I'm getting a bit intimidated! :D haha

You can always start somewhere.....before you know it, you'll show us some pointers instead :D

Guess so.....hope my lessons are the good kind, and not the "alamak" type :p haha
But can't help feeling like my bank account is going to empty at an alarming rate in the next few months! LOL! :D

What issues have u had with it so far in the past 5 weeks? Preventive maintenance helps alot bro.

Issues...hmmm...not been paying too much attention la bro.....been enjoying the car too much, to be honest ! And even a problematic E39 is a massive upgrade on a Jap! LOL!

But there's the broken LCD in the meter cluster - can't read the digits properly anymore.
And there's this slight vibrating feeling (I think from the driveshaft) if I really floor the accelerator......

So far only these two problems I've spotted lah....but I probably should send the car to a BMW specialist soon.....any suggestions where? :D

I have a feeling mine's going to be a bit of a fixer-upper........anyone got good contacts for personal loan? :p haha

If your free this Sunday, join us for the Kluang breakfast drive. Check out updates at the Members Meet Up section.

Welcome. How much did ur E39 costs and what was its mileage? Thks.

Thanks for the invite Docrayboy! You guys sure sound like party animals! LOL ;)
This Sunday might be a no-go....my 5 yr old nephew's birthday...and my UDM is apparently the birthday boy's transport to the party....:D
But the Koh Samui drive sounds good! And so does the Phuket one! When are those planned?

Anxious - I paid just a bit over 90k for my 525i, including Puspakom inspection, transfer fees and all that.
It had 102,000km on the clock when I got the keys, and the best part, I think, was that the owner gave me a file full of receipts for the car's servicing and repairs done at this place called Heritage Auto Services.
Not sure how good they are but the car seemed to be well maintained when I tested it.
Keeping my fingers crossed it stays that way! LOL :D
