NEED HELP TO EXAMINE A E39

Hi all,recently contacted a seller in KL for an E39 and thinking of viewing the car in KL. Can anyone recommend me a good mechanic so can bring him along or send to his workshop.Terima kasih banyak banyak first btw can send to BMW for check up?

I believe Autobavaria will only check it if it was sold originally by them and not imported via other means.

I had mine checked by a specialist workshop - full MODIC check. Identified several defects and potential defects, which was attended to by the seller before i took posession of the car.

Even then, the car suffered several defects (including one breakdown requiring towing!) within 3 months of ownership. Most of the defects attended by seller as still within its warranty period. Still negotiating on the rest, hopefully all issues will be resolved soon.

I strongly advise making clear on warranty period and what is covered.

I did a check on JPJ maklumat and found out that the car is under declare in year. A 97 car declare as 96 when imported. Just wondering any duty issue?

Well, the car bear a very nice 2 digit number and owned by a lady doctor. The son was the one help to carry out the deal. In our conversation, he has not mentioned that such arrangement has been made(97 car but declared as 96) and i think this is some of the info which seller should provide, especially we might be travelling all the way to KL to view the car.

Any idea when finance company examine the doc, they will consider this as a 96 or 97? Seller did tell me that the info plate at the engine bay states that this is manufactured in 97.
