Dear all,Today in the morning i saw an oil stain coming from the bottom of my e46. It's the first time I had the problem since I owned it for about 5 months. My e46 is using the N42 engine and mileage 75000. 2 months before I've already service it and also get it checked. I remembered that my mechanic said that it's either the oil seal or the o-rings need to be change. I noticed it when doing the service but i refused to change it first and it's not a major leaks I guess. My mechanic also said that not much of oil will leaks when the car is being driven so i ignore it. Now The stain is start to coming out from the bottom cover and it start to leaks little by little. The positioning of the stain is more to the back (back from the engine) not from the front. I didn't know what specific oil seal and o-rings should be replace?.Are you guys had this problem before?.Information needed.Really need advice from all of you and sifus, please help me to solve this matter. :top:

Mine is 328 M52B28TU different from yours. N42 is well known for oil leakin problem.
If you ask me whether I changed mine I cant recall which seals. U can check my thread at showroom. I think I can advice get your car check by reliable mech.

IM is right. please have your car checked by a good mechanic. buy him a drink and he'll take you to one :)

betul tu bro,
as per initialM & Mizhan said. Memang pnat nk citer pasal leaking ni.
mine is like u N42, so many o-ring/gasket/seal/valves mcm2 dan byk tempat laktu....
just get a trusted & reliable mechanic to doit.

Leaking can be anywhere...can be your Valve cover gasket...head gasket...or there's one pump O-ring behind your valve...or even your Oil Cooler for Transmission..can be also your transmission Oil Sump and many more...hehe...better go and check before it's too late...for me my car in workshop now...Do top overhaul and replace Oil Cooler for Transmission since the oil already go into water tank...water became Teh AIS color.....before this I just top up engine oil 1 liter every 1 1/2 weeks...and little by little 3 days 1 liter and lastly just breakdown....if Engine oil not enough can caused overheat and your head to bend...and that will cost you major damage in your wallet..need to do top overhaul and skimm the head...if still can...if the previous owner already done that before...sorry to say that you need a new engine...half cut one...

For N42, here are the the list of mesti leak parts (for back of engine case, nak list semua ambik 8 jam nak taip):
1) Vacuum pump o-ring
2) Vacuum pump itself (internal gasket)
3) Crankshaft oil seal (yg ni kena turun g/box....barang murah tapi upah mahal)
4) Cam cover gasket (DIY boley....kalau berani)
5) Oil separator
6) O-ring for coolant from g/box to heat exchanger (kshapawi case I guess)
7) That pair of solenoid valve o-rings (DIY je...kat depan engine)

Nak full story of N42, boleh TT sama2 and I can introduce my mechanic to you. Last week my crankshaft sensor kaput at Jln Kuching, nearly caused traffic jam on Monday morning....now all sorted out but makan maggi mee laa
