Phew, what a race it was!! By far the best race in recent years and mainly due to the heroics by Kimi. This man qualified 1st (and the penalty demoted him to 11th place on the starting grid) with a car that is heavy on fuel! Had he not had a punctured tire, yesterday's drive could have been stuffs legend are made of!!Too bad, the best driver will not win this year's championship. With all these new rulings, the element of luck plays a greater role! :(

Imagine Kimi qualified and retained his pole with the same load of fuel and maintained a 1-stop strategy! He could have lapped a Renault!! Respect man!!! :)
 
If not for the rule changes next year, I would place a bet on Kimi becoming world champion next year. Not sure how big an effect the rule changes will make next year, everyone will be starting from a clean slate which may benefit Ferrari the most (McLaren the worst off since they have the best car under the current rules).

Eh, I think Mark Webber is the most over-rated driver. JP Montoya did a good job and on some days he can beat the best. With rule changes next year, Ferrari is confident of gaining top spot again since I think they gave up on this year already and are the first to focus for next season. Sauber BMW may be a wild card... :p
 
Well, its not a great idea to be Kimi's team-mate! Similarly Fisi was highly rated when he was driving for Sauber but now his stock value has gone down dramatically. Likewise, Juan Pablo was highly rated, he is still a good driver but Kimi have the potential to be one of the greats in the sport, if lady luck finally decides to smile upon him.

Next year maybe a bummer as F1 moves on to V8 engines and hp is down to the low 700s.
 
IN 2007, FIA is pushing for a single tyre manufacturer.... which will bring Ferrari up again competing with the top teams. Now the blame is on Bridgestone for their cars not being competitive to the Michelin runners.

I don't think Ferrari can wait that long to pull up their socks since the Tifosi are disappearing fast! I'm also sure Schumy would like to retire with a big bang and not in current state of things. BMW would also be quite desperate to make a mark. So, the fellas at Renault and McLaren better not rest on their laurels... :)
 
guys who are the two drivers who will drive for bmw new f one team.....? i hope Heidfield is one of the... he is as good as kimi if he has the right machine... both former teamates from sauber few years back.... guy to watch out for is heidfield he is that good... hope bmw keeps him and give him a good machine next season.
 
It'll be 2 experienced drivers for their debut year mainly to help them develop the car from what I read and a young test monkey. Mario was impressed with JV's quali performance in Monza, so its likely he stays on. Also they are targetting to beat match Williams next year with the C25 which will stay with Michelins.
 
Most in depth stories I've read are showing that JV is quicker than Massa now... Sad thing is that not all are aware of this..

He should be good for BMW next year.

Beat Zehnder, director of the operations at Sauber, was of the same opinion that Villeneuve in connection with the relative performance of Sauber.

"Our results are better than our level of performance let it guess, known as Zehnder. Our two drivers made a very beautiful race. Honestly, without their efforts, best that one could hope with everyone with the order of finish, it is 13e or 14e. "

Zehnder is conscious that it is the selected aggressive strategy for the qualification which was costly for Villeneuve. It is what explains his variation with Massa.

"As Jacques stopped very early, five laps before Felipe, we had to put nearly 80 kilos of gasoline with the first stop, explains Zehnder. During these five laps, the car of Jacques was thus 70 kilos heavier than that of Felipe and thus nearly three seconds slower. That is 15 seconds, just there. As such a long stop took three seconds longer, that explains almost all of the gap. The similar but less extreme situation at the time of the second stop explains the remainder"

*** note: JV did finsih 24 sec behind Massa, officially...but at the end of the 2nd to last lap JV was only 12.8sec behind FM. The other 12 sec. came from cruising on the final lap(when u finish a lap down, u are listed as completing 1 lap less in the official result)
