Hi, a suggestion that I think great if implemented. Everytime a new member joins the forum, they are put under probation/moderation period where their posts are moderated before being posted. This is to differentiate spambots or other activities not allowed here with real beamer wielding member. Number of posts before new users are declared "real human" and let into the wild can vary between 3 to 5. This is a feature implemented in some other forums and can be very useful to deter machines or trolls from posting.Cheers

Good suggestion bro, but I suppose currently there's a lack of resources available for moderators to actually go thru all posts posted by newbies on a daily basis. Perhaps someone with almost daily access to the forums will be well-placed to become that moderator, or be part of a team of moderators. :)

u'll have to read thru all post lor later on.... :)

this method is usually used on smaller forums as it is time consuming unless you have a large team of commited moderators.
another way to stop the spammers is to manually activate new members when they join after crosschecking the ip or email address.

A lot of time would be needed to "filter" or "monitore" newbie postings.

A more practical way would be for the regular to click on the "Report" icon and state the reason for the reporting.
All the moderators will get an email message about the report. They will then take the appropriate action.

So please use the "Report" icon. It is highly appreciated.

Good one, then can the time between reporting post be reduced or eliminated? I think it is currently set to 60seconds..

Yes, I notice the waiting time is quite long. Will checked up on this so call waiting time and any possibility to reduce it.

I understand now, the report post link won't appear if youre not signed in

simple. as what I usually does is to lock EVERY other topic with permission access except chat (example).
So, since vbulletin script is really simple to tweak, you can set general permission which can't post in any "LOCKED" sections apart from "chat" before they either have certain post counts OR until they have been registered in XX days.

Just bumping this thread if there is a better solution to spambots..
