Just want to share my unforgettable experience with my E46 ride last Sunday at sg petani . The last thing you expect to encounter was a crack radiator's expansion tank on the way back to KL. Someone referred me to the workshop called Amanjaya Auto in Sg petani (same row with BSN) . I arranged to have my car towed to the shop once they confirmed the availability of the part and the pricing . Again once reached the workshop I reconfirm again just to ensure they have the correct model for my car and the final price including labor. It was a relieve to be told that they were specialist for BMW , Mercedes and all related imported marque except Proton . I guz it was ok then for them to dismantle the crack spare tank eventhough it seem a bit strange as they claimed the replacement part will arrive within 2 hours. As I recall they said earlier they have the part with them. I am so excited and decided to go for lunch with my wife. An hour later we received a call from them claiming the part is not available ! Can u imagine how I felt at that moment ? The anger of been mislead to believe that the part is available and they can resolve my problem instantly. They suggested we leave the car overnight until the next day , as all the spare part supplier are closed . Undaunted , we insist for them to source from their non panel supplier even though they claim they price is higher . I thought we were lucky as the part is available even though the price is higher, ie Rm350 compare 'their panel' Rm300. A few hour later they managed to installed the part , everything looks ok , temperature ok , fan running , no leakage . They test it for a ride. I was taken aback , as later they informed me the temperature is rising and the radiator's fan is not running. The temperature light is on and the engine is still left running ..while they trying to figure out what went wrong with the fan. They even knock hard my fan motor with the wrench couple of time . Until I told them to stop and shut off the engine , to avoid damaging the engine's gasket . They have a peculiar way of testing the fan motor by letting the engine running and the radiator's cap is not cover while the water is seem boiling . Obviously the fan is still not working ...again they told me to leave the car overnight as they claim can only resolve the issue the following day. Furthermore they quoted a used radiator's motor with fan of rm800+My wife just had it with them , we decided to phone our personal mechanic in kl, he instructed us to pull some cable near the radiator in order to have the motor run direct on second speed. We are relieved that the fan is running . The only thing that across our mind at that moment was to leave and make our way to KL immediately. 4 hours later we are safely arrived in kl. The following day our mechanic did a full inspection and found there's nothin wrong with the motor ..the cable was replace back and the motor is running perfectly until today . We were perturb of what actually happened in sg petani. We were annoyed on the workshop misrepresentation of assuring the availability of the spare part and lack of creativity in assisting us to continue our journey back home. I doubt if that was unintentionally or coincidentally. No wonder the workshop is empty, without any vehicle sighted under repair. Wondering any of our sg petani'so forummer ever come across and dealt with them and have the similar issue

Sorry to hear that bro. I used to visit Jakson Auto in Sungai Petani before when I drive E34. I've never try the workshop you mention. Personally, I'm not loyal to one mechanic regardless whether they are my mechanic for may years or friendly. I always keep my option open and always get 2nd or 3rd opinion or quote. Further to that this forum and web resources is important to give me enough information before I send my car for repair. However in your case, it is rather unfortunate as it happen out station and you may not have much option. Lucky you double check. Haywire hometown is Sungai Petani too. So we better watch out Haywire.

Hello there.

Yes I am also from Sungai Petani. As Zidee mentioned, Jackson Conversions in located in front of Sekolah Che Tom, close to Tesco in Bakar Arang, near Sg Petani Selatan toll exit. His number is 012-4848630, keep in just in case next time.

Jackson is a competent mechanic from my encounter with him, and seems honest to help me. However most parts come from Ban Huat in Penang and may take some time to arrive.

Yes workshops in Sg Petani are sometimes the cut throat type, and where you seem to be in a distress and emergency it would seem to them as an easy target.

Was in need for fan replacement (e46 n42) today, tried Jackson conversion as i m not really familiar with Northern area. Well, as bro haywire pointed out, Jackson is a competent mechanic, he knows what he s talking about, know stuffs well. Very friendly. Haha. It is just that i found that the price is a bit on high side. I paid rm1600 (labor included) for the fan, as opposed to rm1000 (parts only, in KL). Rm600 difference (labor couldn't be that expensive as it is 10mins job) is too big to ignore.
I m assuming both are Bosch fan.
Verdict: Will only return if i m stucked in Northern area and have no other (better) options.
