well....parked the car after reaching home from the office to find coolant on the floor.after opening up,found that the leak is from the water pump mating surface.i was thinking earlier it was from the shaft.
so...access was not so bad as I have experience on the e39 except that the elect fan (which replaces the viscous coupled fan on the e39) requires removal.

early last year I removed the water pump from my e39 due to a leak which I thought was due to the pump but eventually I replaced a perfectly good metal impeller pump coz the leak was actually from above ie the thermostat housing. So I kept the pump, which is heaven sent as my e60 M54B25 pump is the same as the e39 M52b28!

So the e60 pump was original, made in 2004 stamped on it.Plastic impeller still good but got slight play in the shaft and the mating surface with the O ring was squashed hence the leak.Cleaned the water pump housing with fine sandpaper and refitted the "new" water pump......wooohoo...all nice and dandy after start up.this happened yesterday.started at 2130h.completed 0230h early today morning.
he he...save cuti satu hari....

partly the reason why I chose an e60 with an m54 and not n52......electric pump wor.....RM1k ++!!!

LH is metal impeller ex e39 /RH ori e60 pump
