We all know about M5, its really a dream car for all the BeeMerBut today I come across this beast: M55d xDrive from the BMW 5 series catalogue.Wow! Its spring from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.7 secsWith the engine capacity just 2993ccWhile M5 is powered by 4395cc petrol engine and make it at 4.4 secs (Just 0.3 secs faster)For top speed, both are electronically limited. For fuel consumption,Definitely the oil burner beat M5 with just 6.3l/100km (M5 need 9.9l/100km)Curious why don't BMW Malaysia bring in this Top diesel model to Malaysia?

Easy ... cause our diesel here is just crap. BMW has to do extensive modifications to the engine fuel and emission systems to handle our higher sulfur diesel that doesn't even pass Euro 4 standards.

The cost of all the modifications can't be justified on a low volume production model that isn't going to get the full 100% of power and mileage if the engines was running on Euro 5 diesel.

..not for everybody maaaa.. :)

Then Bro. Ecc0, what is your dream car? ^_^

Serious discuss,
M5 is available in Malaysia for more than RM800,000.

If M550d xDrive is also available in Malaysia, what should be the investment cost? :)

:listen: ... ever cross our mind the % of luxury cars that runs on diesel vs the commercial vehicles that plys on the road here in Malaysia? ...

The diesel brought in here are basically to cater for such market ... higher than that (euro 3-5) ... the cost will be higher and owners of luxury diesel powered vehicles will start blowing their "horns" out loud. Not that they cannot afford the high price, if you know what I mean ...:4: ... minimum std to run those performance diesel is euro4 and its little wonder why those marque of performance never make it to our shores .... :frown:

True, but if the average petrol kiosk can carry RON 95, RON 97 and RON 98 petrol along with diesel and sometimes LNG, I don't see why it is so difficult to provide two different diesels available and just charge the extra for the higher quality diesels to the consumer who wishes for higher performance diesel cars.

But the biggest reason is still the government and oil companies dragging their feet in supplying the Euro 4M category fuel for what they believe is an insignificant, or shrinking market segment: http://paultan.org/2011/01/24/euro-...alaysia-before-year-end-b5-biodiesel-in-june/

... honestly we do not know if its the govt or the latter in mention but to bring in the specific E4 std with less than minimal consumption, just not cost saving for both consumer and supplier ....

... supplier will hve to hike the price to remain competitive which will eventually pinch the consumer's piggy and at the end of the day, the supplier will be the one losing money :frown:
