E30s with M42B18 here are mainly converted ones. Only the original E30 318is (2 doors) comes from the factory with the M42B18. However, in the USA, all the Post 89 318i and 318is used the M42 engine and there is no M40 there.popgum said:Thanks for all the tips.
Actually I was looking for an M42B18 E30 for quite sometimes but it is very very hard to find. That's why I turn to M40 and M20. After reading all this, cannot decide already.
Frankly, I just need an E30 with plenty of "pick-up" when I need it (especially at traffic light), and don't drink too much fuel when leisurely driven.
