ok guys, please see other thread about cooling system. Learn a lot about it.

Anyway, I had a heart attack when my car was reacting badly past few days.

So, i jump into conclusion that my car needs a overhaul because of
1) burn valve
2) burn head gasket

So, it's time to for overhaul.

But findings today has lead that I have TWO problems.

1) cooling system
2) plug cables (number 2 was faulty)

elwine how much would you think to overhaul the m40? just check out before you start.
this is my exprieance when I first got my car and don't think others kena.
while running at 120km all of a sudden the engine dies at the h/way so pull to the side, in my mind either the electric or fuel problem so call my mech, so check all were ok then open the plugs and happen one lost its tips gone shows that the pistons hit the plugs, so towed the car and strip the engine, the damage was a big hole piston, head damage, I don't heard any sound when that happen was tailing a 7series dreaming one 1 day to have 1. well that time just got the car asked if to overhaul what is the cost well mouth talk he says get ready at least 10k.... :getyourfactsright: the actual fault was the valve one of it broke at the neck that makes the piston hit the head, well never in history heard of this damage.
I was new to Bimmers then maybe workshop also try to make out of me, I ask what if I change engine, you know was quoted 8k can buy 3/4 BMW lah not 1/2 cut am not new in car lah had been playing with cars since 1974. I told them I wil look out myself an engine well maybe kena ketuk also but puas hati, then my staff was ex mech look for me and got one just came in from Japan same M40 engine only one (that time not easy to get but the older one no problem was told) so xcited price was 5.5k if not wrong was stupid then should ask whole set it was Auto but I needed engine so I just take engine only never even know about AFM also was given or not as that is not cheap. so sent to the w/shop got it fix change the belts clean up was fine all in all if I am not wrong spend about 6.5k maybe lupa sudah.
Well tak tau lah had it went for puspakom inspection I am the type follow the rule lah, just imagine at the inspection I was told my cc is lower then the original about say 20 cc thats what the puspakom says so road tax gone down a little maybe lah Japan spec. don,t know I feel no diff driving but sounds better drive after change. That is the time I change all rubber parts and what ever I think hidden so done. well to tell you history of my cay you will get fedup reading it will be longer to read I am tired of typing and will continue later more interesting stories I caught from what if you don't check the mech. did, I don't blame the boss but the staff working we ourself got to check when jobs are done and I will sit and watch normally when repairs are done unless I really know the guy or a closs friend. As I say my car all are new except the body will tell later even AFM was change new a year back. still not to what I expected spent to much of it can easily get an e36 but the love for it will keep it and buy another later thats the plan.

update today, change the plugs to normal ones from iridium. Appearently, my plugs all koyak. Sigh. :(, will post pictures up from my mobile later.

So, plug in the normal ones. The engine idling still bad. So, next course of action is to test the plug cables. Thanks kev. Should be number 2 is the culprit.

elwine.....my advice is to stick to the original Bosch plugs. the iridiums are just a waste of money and their electrods won't last long.

touch wood bro!!!!!

nelson, the iridium plugs in my corolla also died. so, i don't think it's the injectors.

But let's see how after i changed the stuff.

yeah.. maybe. well, the corolla feels better after i changed to super4. i think should remain conservative for plugs.

Try Brisk, bro. Am still using them after 35,000 km although they're only recommended for up to 30k.

60k km .... ?? Wow .... i was thinking of changing mine already but I guess no need .... :D

i think i will send 2 my mech for full diagnostic of my car. To see what's wrong. Rather than just to use my 2cents guessing game. Anyway, i got myself the full plug cable system + distributor rotor and cover.

Well, i will have several choices once the diagnosis is confirm.

Either I do top overhaul if gasket is just the problem. But if more serious problem, I will do tranplant of engine.

Now, my car is sitting at home and will be KIV till further notice.
