Stock is probably solid as well.

Stock ones are normally hollow for better comfort. Even if it's solid it's probably made from material that is not as solid as after market performance ARB.

When it comes to torsional rigidity it does not really matter hollow or solid. What matters is the design of the hollow (OD and ID) and it can be more fine tuned for the same outer diameter. Main difference is weight. Hollow does not make it more comfortable. Actually, when you add the ARB you can hardly feel the difference in ride comfort.

imho stiffer bar itself will not cause a stiffer ride...unless a higher rated springs are fitted...

Performance ARB would make your car more difficult to turn at slow speed. You have to use more strength to turn and park your car or when negotiating tight turns in carpark. But for high speed cornering is best.

Dude ... Are you sure? ARB works harder when got load on one side la that help to balance out the other. Nothing to do with slow speed turns. I got H&R ones on my e90, the front is 1mm thicker than stock whilst back is much more. Same feeling for steering at low speed.

For me the important factor for ARB is mainly the bias. That affects how your car handles. I doubt that the BMW ones will be built without slight understeer. They don't want to get sued la.

I am writing from my own experience when I upgraded my hot hatch ARB. After the upgrade the car chassis stiffens up and taking fast corners like a go kart. However, the better handling is at the expense of comfort as I have to put in more effort to turn the car in slow corners like in car park or traffic junction.

I think you feel the steering is heavier more especially when your hot hatch uses an electric steering. Those fellas with hydraulic steering already build up their muscles so can't tell the difference :p

But personally as well, from my old hot hatch (not that hot), no difference in terms of turning even at slow speeds. This was using H&R ARBs.

Dude ... Chassis does not really stiffen up with an ARB, check where it's attached to and how it works la.

Tianci, whats ARB?
Bro Splee, check yr tyre pressures. Sometimes after installing d arb and makimg wheel alighnment, they cld have reduced yr tyre pressure in comparision to yr previous psi.

ARB is not the same as arb la ... Automated Rebound Balancer ... Eeeerrrr, wat is psi? PSY I know la

Huh?? My ARB is Anti Roll Bar. I thought this is supposed to stiffen up the chassis so that's less flex or roll of the car body when taking corners. This will improve the handling in corners but not in straight line.

It's a stupid reply to Daniel bcos he is asking me what ARB is whilst in the same breath spoke about your arb installation. My stupid joke la.

Anyways, it's does not stiffen up the chassis. Google it up to see how it works.
