to all sifus, i am new to the suspension setting.... got few questions to ask here, what is the disadvantage and advantage when i using a lowering spring + stock absorber combination???i currently on OMP lowering springs (front is 30mm lower, rear is 15mm lower) + 2 blienstein front absorber + 2 boge rear absorber...... my ride is E36 318i year 1999.....i heard that my stock absorber will be wear off faster, but i would like to know how much faster when compared to stock setting??the only advantage that i know is that my car will look nicer.......thanks,willie

guru's,i might b wrong here so feel free to correct me....
willie,i think the only difference with using the stock absorbers with lowered springs is tht u get a more comfortable ride....less harsh and kinder on the bumps and pot holes!
u wont b able to hit corners like a full sport spring/absorber set up but its a vast difference from the stock set up!
hope this helps!

lowered spring will cause absorber oscillation increase....
It will damage/shorten the absoreber life span...

Lowered sport springs are recommended to use with short stroke absorber because lowered spring will cause absorber oscillation increase.... It will damage/shorten the absoreber life span...

But if the lowered sport spring is not lowered more than 30mm...
Using it together with stock absorber shouldn't bring any problems... just that it will be slightly stiffer while cornering...

Just my 2cents... Hope this help....

one question here, how long usually does our stock absorber last ah???

depends on ur driving condition, how many people u usually drive.... somehow it will damaged even if u only use it for one months.... really...

Depends on where and how you drive. If you keep whacking those speed humps and pot-holes at high speeds, the life-span will be shorter. Also depends on quality of manufacture.

If you are the kind that slows down to dead slow for humps and does slaloms around potholes, etc, then, theoretically, it could last more than three years.

That being said, been lucky so far with my Bilstein Sport fronts - more than 4 years. I do detect a slight degradation in performance. Probably due to age of the seals.

ya correct ichiwan.... my worst experience is when i bought the Monroe absorber for my satria last time.... Its brand new & its gone after one month.... hahaha

Maybe it was just a mistake where thats the only 1 of the 50 is faulty absorber manufactured... who knows ?? bad luck ma... haha

guys, i still yet to get use to the lower car hide... hehe, when i go over speed bump heard some metal scratching, very soft one.... wondering what's that ah??? any important structure that i should becareful?? like the petrol tank??? or fuel line or whatever????

or is it just the exhaust pipe??? because it sounds like that....

what can i do to prevent this scratching??? go slow, and what else??? actually how does the "crab" move helps ah??? how to "crab" walk????
