there's one bmw breakers somewhere in cardiff i think..cant remember the exact place though

Drive down the northern coast of Scotland...especially that stretch from Ullalpool to Thurso...mindblowingly beautiful scenery! Even can see seals swimming in the ocean...so north, the climate is almost tundra.Sometimes you won't see another car for miles and miles!

Also, drive down to land's end.. :driver: superb view.. ++ southern coast > Southapton - Hastings.. Plenty of nude beach around this time.. lagi superb view..:listen:

Hope u enjoy your trip :top:

dude, if you need better directions and where to drive, get top gear magazine. Every month they highlight something like a 'road you have to drive before you die' kind of thing. Its got pics, descriptions and directions too i think.

On my last trip to UK (2009) my cousin gave me the impression that driving in the UK has gotten to be quite expensive due to insurance, taxes, petrol and stuff.

Traffic laws are brutal and there are speed cams everywhere.

if you are thinking of renting i would suggest just checking with car rental people whether they will just accept malaysian driving licence or will require international etc.

If you are thinking of borrowing a car from friend or family be sure to check insurance details. They are quite strict on named drivers etc. My cousin wouldnt even let me drive her very nice C-Class saying something about afraid of voiding the insurance thing. The point is just be clear with them on implications so no 'fights' later on if (touch wood) something happens.

I think the top gear guys will say something about gatsos (speed cams etc) if they appear on the route of their featured road so that would be useful. I have read a few recently and the roads they feature look very nice to drive in terms of driver experience as well as the scenery.... bring a camera!

I love road trips dude..... make yours a good one by planning ahead!

Godspeed my friend.

Jip,

I miss the chips BIG time... and you're making me feel hungry now! Hahahaha...

I rented a car in the UK last year and have some relevant info for you:

1. Rental companies accept Malaysian driving licence.
2. Fuel costs are much higher than here. Expect to pay 4-5x more.
3. They are very strict on traffic law enforcement. Speed cameras are everywhere. Look for the warning signs (all speed cameras have warning signs), and the big yellow box on a pole next to the road. The big yellow box is the speed camera.
4. Common areas for speed cameras are just after the speed limit drops to 30/40mph when entering a town and intersections without traffic lights.
5. On motorways, the locals tend to drive up to 80mph.
