Hi Ladies & Gents,

I noticed there isn't much on the 7 series section of the group and I would love to learn more. I'm zooming in on a couple of 740li's circa 2009.

Appreciate your kind views and advise on where the F02 owners have been servicing their cars either SC or private workshops.

Any advise on things to check on as they are reaching 10 years. Common issues owners have faced?

Also any recommendations on the best places for a PPI that are thorough.

Thanks in advance.

740li at that time period would be on the n55 engine. Engine-wise (since we would be on the same platform), things to look out for are the HPFP pump, oil cooler gasket. and being a 7, your air suspension need to be looked at (assuming urs have it). recond units are available though. A change of the entire cooling system, fm radiator to the expansion tank to the hoses. lots of wear n tear.

for PPI, u can always go back to the authorized service center. Yes there is a fee to be paid *hefty*. Importantly, they can pull ur exact service history and mileage. Most established workshop do provide PPI too. Need to talk to ur preferred one to arrange a session.

i started to service my '09 F02 outside last year.. dis machine has really burnt holes in my pocket. ha ha. even outside at BMW specialists, still burns a lot...
anyway, my notable works last year:
1.) Overhaul - since d engine leaked - but i was sure it was due to d poor gasket change by d SC a few years back...
2.) Both front absorbers
3.) soft close door on my RHR
4.) leather strap on all internal door handles ( d rubber started to disintegrate... )

Now, my coolant system is leaking, and i suspect it from d poor overhaul work last year!! so i am looking for a different workshop now. Read about BM Works in Temasya by dis supoosedly honest mechanic Maniyam, but apparently it doesn't exist anymore!!
So m scouting for more options lah..

Thanks for the advise. Do you still use the authorised service center? If so, which one would you recommend? That's definitely my preference. Original parts and dealer updates, warranty etc. I saw you've used Auto Bavaria Glenmarie before..do you use them exclusively?

That sounds harsh. I experience this before on another make. Poor overhaul leading to endless issues. A lot of even previously reputable mechanics out there are cutting corners on the parts they use as well as QC for the labour. Ends up being a nightmare for owners. You weren't happy sticking with the authorized SC?

Btw, as an update. I spoke to Ingress about a PPI and they advised they are unable to do a PPI. They will only do a 'vehicle safety check' that would cost RM 400 excluding any registration fees.

No bro. Got myself a 2nd hand unit, n sent it only once to an authirised SC, for a simple lube change n update ownership in their database. Been sending my ride to an independent mech since then. I bought parts fm AB Glenmarie only, n dealer i sent to earlier was Ingress.

had a pleasant experience at BlueGreen Auto Werks in PJ off Jln Templer. They fixed my coolant leak issue and changed my rear brake pads there... I think I m gonna be a regular customer there from now on... d owner is Mike. pleasant n trustworthy.
