Can someone advice me what is the list of things I should service after getting a 2nd Hand 318i E46 ?Thank you

Change every and I mean EVERY fluid and filters in your car, all rubber hose, mounting, seals and water pumps and fuel pumps. Full service require for brake system, aircon and also powersteering.

Change your spark plugs, spark plug cable is require, car battery if more then 18months old and tyres if they are more then 5 years even it look new.

Go to a professional shop to balance your wheels and also to check for proper settings for best ride.

Good luck and enjoy your car.

Thank you

What year is your car and what mileage have been clocked?

When you buy the car did you have the previous owner service record?

Based on the above, you can schedule the routine maintenance of the car.

Just be on the lookout for lost of coolant. When you need to top coolant every week, this is a sign of leakage of water in the cooling system. Check the radiator, rubber hose and etc.

Depending on your budget, you can change certain as you drive the car.

Normally, changing the following is a must as they dont cost so much:-
1. Engine Oil
2. Air Filter

Since you are at the workshop, ask the mechanic to do a visual inspection:-
1. Sign of oil leak at engine bay, absorber, power steering and gearbox
2. Sign of water stain around radiator and rubber hose.
3. Sign of wear and tear for control arm bushing, engine mounting, absorber rubber.
4. Sign of wear and tear for all the plastic and rubber material.

Hahahaha....I had spend 6.5k for the first time for my ride and it still going on ...now need to change ASC ECU and front bearing...

I feel that it may be good to change the ATF oil - i wonder how much it will cost to do that.

ATF oil is range between RM30-60 per liter depend on brand Try Redline as many suggest them. To change inclusive filter you require about 5-6 liters but flushing require double of that.

Gearbox is the weakness of this sweet ride so better take care of her else she will not sayang you but koyak your pocket further

Good luck bro.

yes, i agree with bro geoffreylee..i did the same to my car, cost me RM4500 after 4 days bought the car. Actually the previous owner did not take care of the car at all, he only concern on the cosmetic. So after i took over, i need to change every seal, rubber, mounting(engine and gearbox), fluids (ATF, engine oil, brake fluid, power steering), some bearing, water pump, gasket etc..

not to forget ...go to the nearest TEMPLE and pray OR mandi bunga ...kasi buang all the suiii

Hi Terry, got your car yet? Do share your initial journey into the world of UDM ownership :top:

I'm waiting for my car too, should get it next week

don't forget the belts as well. very cheap items but important. keep some of the old items 'still usable ones' as spares in the trunk just in case. eg. water hose, gearbox oil cooler hose, some belts etc. just in case of emergency.
