ingolstadt;327730 said:I have to really warn everyone about Kean Leong Motor at Sunway. They used to be ENEOS at Kuchai Lama, splitted to this workshop.
As you all can see from my nick, I'm an Audi driver. (Ok, you all might go why you cari pasal, bring your car to a BMW workshop)
Well actually they did not state they're a BMW only workshop, they fix vans, protons, kancils etc. But one can see many BMWs there, especially E36/46 and a couple of Benzs.
I took my car there as I happen to get to know one of the boss there from another friend of mine, he say they just opened, ask me to support, say they have this excellent engine oil 'Ravenol' and ask me to change there.
After 2 oil changes there, then the workshop told me that they can change my control arms for me if i get the parts myself (charging me RM150 labor). So delighted, I did it, and my nightmare started. They then told me my engine and gearbox mountings are dead, i got the parts in, then told me my tie rods are dead (frequent damaged audi parts, no problem) so i bought the parts as well.
Then they told me my engine is leaking oil, and lack of pressure; i questioned the main mechanic "Do you know how to fix Audis?" He said fine, all German cars are the same, not a problem.
Then eventually he persuaded me to buy the top overhaul kit saying I have to fix it, then when he opened up my engine, he told me that they proceed to clean up the bottom part as well, asking me to buy the tensioners, oil seals, piston rings and such.
Before the piston rings arrive, they sent my block for port polish, when it came back, the piston rings doesn't fit the polished block, normally piston rings for overhauled cars are slightly larger to fit, but these buggers sent for polishing before they got the rings for measurement, and they tried to blame my supplier for sending in the wrong things, this is now the third week in progress, initially they told me 2 weeks will gao dim.
Then the rings was sent back, and they told me to get 4 new pistons as those came with piston rings, and it will fit the polished block. They showed me my previous pistons which had some knocking scars from the previous car owner, but i can see it's just very slight, nothing to be bothered with.
After much consideration, I decided 'what the heck, lets do this for once' and I got myself 4 new pistons, then 2 days was quiet, they did not call me, I cant reach them, the third day I got agitated and decided to take a trip down, shicked to see my car still in its disintegrated form, I asked, then they sleazily told me, eh your pistons also cant fit in the block lar..
I was like :"wtf? how come?" they told me the port polish guy did not do a good job, so they will send it there again to do it, charging me another RM160 which I seriously think they're trying to shovel this into my throat for what they've done wrong. Seeing my car was still there, i dowan to create any further problem. So I telan my nafas, and let them proceed.
Then another week later, they told me my car is almost done. I was asked to collect it on a wednesday night, delighted, I went there after work this is already 1 and a half month since they told me to do a top overhaul.
Start the car, they told me they've tested it 'vigorously'. and I heard a ticking noise, the mechanic told me not to worry, it might be the 'tepet' i dunno wtf was that but i felt uncomfortable hearing him saying that try drive for 1 2 days and see if the noise is still there.
So i drive very slowly, noticing that once the rpm climbs to 1500 the sound gets noisier, so i tried to keep below 1500rpm and 200 meters after NPE's first toll en route to Kuchai, my engine blew. and the car shake to a violent stall.
Called them, and they came 1 hour later, it was already 11pm.
The next day they told me i can pick up my car on friday, they did not tell me what happened.
So I went there on friday afternoon, so my car again dismantled, then they told me the true story, the valves jammed and 2 of my valves broked, 1 stucked in my block.
Then I went to my car and notice one of my piston (new pistons) had a half cm protrusion resulting from the jammed valves and it was damaged, more damaged than my initial 10 year old pistons I can remember clearly.
I seek clarification and the the boss there said this in my face, in a rather aggresive note, before he reverse violently out of his workshop :"MOU SI GEH! DIU, DAI LAN BA CHE DOU HAI GAM LAR" (Translate: "No problem one, many fucking cars out there are like that what.")
It's only untill 1 week later then they got my car out.
After driven my car for 2 weeks, I found out something, they screwed down my engine mounting too tight, and it got damaged, leaking. Lucky that my parts supplier is willing to claim it for me, and I got it fixed at a proper Audi workshop.
Whilst fixing my engine mountings, the Audi guys asked me to look at something, guess what, engine oil leaking from my turbo and engine, total three spots with leaking engine oil. The reason? Poor workmanship.
I called Kean Leong, the boss picked up the phone, and say he'll call me back later and from then on everytime i called them they just choose not to pick up, like how they did when i was trying to call them earlier on when they fail to deliver at the promised date, from 2 weeks to 2 months.
Throughout the whole ordeal, I slowly found out many clips from my engine bay used to secure the plastic parts or wires were not in place, and they even cut (YES, they CUT) away one of my front lamp's wire when they disconnect my bumper - I thought my front lamp not working. and many screws were replaced with 'unknown' screws.
This is because when they dismantle my car, the parts were placed everywhere, they just throw things around, disorganized, very disorganized.
And now I suspect they did not do a good job with my turbo air intake or release as now my turbo would release pressure prematurely.
As for the costing, thou reasonable, but for a cock job done up, I really really think that this is an example of where not to send your cars to.
When I think of how I ended up there, the boss dubbed 'Ah Boy' is actually quite a good talker, using terms like "No problems one, don't worry, we're doing all we can, we're doing up ur car untill 1am in the morning etc" But after 2 months, I found out he's just full of bullshit.
Regret regret regret.
bro, sorry to hear about your problem. Lots of workshops out there TCSS (tok-kok-sing-song). Today, unfortunately its your turn to be ripped off, tomorrow it could have been anyone of us irregardless of what car we drive if we go to the same mechanic.
May i suggest a mechanic at taman cuepecs, cheras. shop name is speedtunes. guy there, Tommy, is the second mechanic for A1 Malaysia Team. He is a mechanical engineer by qualification so know lots about cars and the right nuts and bolts to use. Only problem is that sometimes he's overseas for 1 week every alternate month or something like that for the A1 race. Price is very reasonable. Workmanship excellent.
PM me for contact if you're interested.
