This DIY is for those people who want to convert their bimmer key (pre 1995) from incadescent bulb to Light Emitting Diode. In addition, getting the battery replacement is a hassle and expensive.Presently, your key use 1.5 V bulb and a 1.5 V battery. To convert to LED, you have to buy a high intensity LED rated at 3VDC and a Lithium battery CR1616 3VDC.Instruction.1. Open up the lamp holder from the key and open up the lamp holder casing.2. Determined the positve end of the LED. (You can check this by putting the LED across the terminal of the battery).Note you should mount the battery with positive end facing up.3. Solder one end to the spring and the other end to the clip.4. Trim off the extra lead from the diode.5. Reassemble in reverse order.Cost : RM3.00 for battery and RM1.00 for LED.Tools used:1. solder gun plus some solder.2. small pincer or cutter and small long nose pliers.Refer to attach picture...

Somebody ask me whether blue LED are brighter than yellow/ I thought it might be appropiate that it is transferred here..J, I seem to recall u saying dat d blue lite LEDs hv r briter light compared to d amber-yellow ones. Izzat true? blink.gifyup, that is true if you want to compare. LED that are usually termed as ultra bright and the normal type..The normal LED when they were first produced come in red, green and yellow.. Thoose are relatively cheap (cost about 10 cents to 20 cents depending on the size)However due to the technology advancement, LED come in all type. The newer generation are clasiified as Ultra bright and super ultra bright.. Thoose are the one you see nowadays on your handphones.. Most of them come in blue (like the Nokia HP - first one to use and later many follow suit) and recently they come in white (with a tint of blue)... This type of LED are generally more expensive. They can be priced from RM1.00 to about RM20.00. depending on the design and brightness.. Nowadays, they come in all sort of colour as well red, blue, green, yellow..etc.. you can see them being use in the traffic light and cars as well... They are expensive in the initial stage but the saving in the labour cost of replacing them is termendous...Last year, a super ultra bright LED was released in the market and they are about 10 to 20 times more brighter than the ultra bright. The code name for the LED is lumiled.. They cost a bomb.... just basic led mounted on heat sink cost about RM50... I saw a guy with a torchlight that use this technology at the last night TT. (cool gadget to have) Heard is was RM300 plus for a piece but somebody say there are imitation going for about RM60.. More expensive than a maglite torch...very soon you will see some car will use this lumiled (codename luxeoun) for headlight.. vw is already testing it...Now coming to your question... ultra bright blue is definitely brighter than the normal yellow LED. In term of colour spectrum and penetration, yellow beat blue hand down for the same brightness.. That why you never see blue in the traffic light.. btw brightness or illuminance is measure in candle light or cdl or lux... (not the soap OK)... some people use K or kelvin after Lord Byron Kelvin. (english scientist - same gang as isaac newton)

For thoose people who are interested to know more about K or kelvin, here is the colour chart.. It will be useful when you want to buy HID or bulb for your headlight or fog light..Kelvin chart....or colour temperature...BTW, colour is also subjected to the background light... so use the outdoor for your headlamp colour selection..

Damn you still remember Bryon Kelvin, I remember Bryon as in RC fuel hahaha and the Kelvin as a measure of temperature, 273K=100C(??).Yeah, Jarance say it correctly and thats why never have your HID light more than 7000K, its blue-ish and in the rain, you are screwed...cant see nuts for sure.Al

Who is it? I like to know what brand is he/she using. I like to have one cause RM300 for lumiled is cheap. I'm using Surefire flashlight that can produce 19 lumen (regulated) that i bought in sg for app. RM1K. But now surefire already have led that can produce up to 65 lumens of light.Anybody interested check this site; surefire.com. There is 1 local dealer in my. but the price almost double.Sorry mr. Jarance to hijack this tread. Back to you.

I not sure who is the guy. I did remember KCtam was playing with it.. calling Kctam .. where are you?I thought Sg should be cheaper than Mal.. Need to check out the price.. I think I saw one of these torch in Ace hardware. Can't remember the brand and the luminance output...

If it is at Ace, than it is the same one. They have another outlet at megamall also. But the price, as i said almost double from the internet.
