Japanese Spec Interior Mirror E60

My Japanese spec E60 525i has a card reader built into the interior rear view mirror, when I turn on the ignition I get the message no card. As I understand this is for the Japanese road toll booth, same as smart tag here.
My question is, has anyone tried if it will work here in Malaysia? I am worried about trying it and having a line of angry drivers behind me as I try to get the barrier to work.

wah...i would be curious to see if it works.card reader same size as our t n g card?me doubtful coz the freq used most likely not same.but still....try lah bro....buy another t n g card with rm10 credit and shove it there.also standby a smart tag.......honk honk....
