ipod trouble

recently(last few days) my ipod freezes and cannot control function from the steering.. it continues to play but cannot fwd/rew. had to soft reset then ok..after awhile same thing happened. I have never had trouble with the ipod freezing before, so if anyone can advise..i'm using the newest version software update...could it be hardware malfunction? i'll have to try using it without interface the car and see if it happens.

yup..no problem now.. on it's own can play with no trouble.. hooked it up to the pc and it rectified itself..put it back into the car and no problems so far.
