iPod not recognized

Iphone 4, iPod classic 5th n 7th generation intermittently not recognized no matter what u do. Plugging/unplugging USB, manual reset of iPod, switching off car. The ipod screen will show it is connected to idrive with the bmw logo displayed. But idrive will not have the external device highlighted. Why this mother$$@$@ car have so many problems. It's shit.

Erm I have no problems with my iPhone 3G upwards..maybe your cable is faulty?

The iPod hung. Just perform a complete reset (i think its press and hold MENU and centre button for 10 secs). You should see it restart and the apple logo. Plug it in again and it should work fine after that. Happened to me a few times already.

Yes the iPod hung. Many times. With different iPods and different cables. Nothing wrong with cable. Reset also no use. Then next day it's working perfectly again. Pening...
