hi sifu2..Im waiting for my 335i to be out somewhere in July. could anybody gives a bit info how is the Ipod connect work with the Idrive. izzit like Ipod that you can select the song listing from the idrive? do i need to buy additional kit to connect the Ipod. how much it is? izzit worth buying it or stick with CDs? I believe there is few model to chose from BMW which one is the best?thanks

if your car got ipod interface or it's ipod ready, then you just need to plug in your ipod(in the glove compartment) and you can select from your steering, track and artist info will display on your screen.

unless you listen to classical or very fussy about sound quality, ipod will give you endless music at your fingertips..maybe you have option to run both ipod and cds..

Nowadays mp3 players also can connect to radio without any wiring, using something called fm modulator or something like that.

If you are the type who doesn't care about transferring songs to your iPod, then you should stick with the CD-Changer. Personally, I would go for the iPod interface because there is already a CD player to play CDs, and I get to store more songs (about 1000 songs in a 4GB iPod Nano) on the iPod.

I opted for the I-Pod interface and I'm loving it even though it costed me RM1,900. The sound quality is pretty good and I now have more than 1,500 tracks at my fingertip disposal. It's really easy to use. I had a problem with my I-Pod getting KO-ed while plugged to the interface (which I think also acts as a charger) but Apple was kind enough to replace the "corrupted" unit under warranty within 5 days!! For my new I-Pod, I'm taking the precaution of unplugging from the interface when I'm not using the car. I used to be lazy and just leave it there but realise this might not be a good idea since the I-Pod is switched on perpetually.

Juan Powerblow: How come it costed RM1,900?

I got it done for my E60 for RM1550 at a famous stealership..

JP, Im having the same one for my e46. connect it with the ipod connector in the glovebox. sound is digital coz dosent use the analog connector. but problem is i only can preset 5 ipod music track and dont show the music title. Now, with the Idrive that you have. could you see all the music title?. can you select the track with the Idrive controller?
