bundy....I was asking from the context of a aspiring instructor....and the answer is it will be a FOC.

As a customer, sure the course wun be cheap......RM2000++ for a one day Porsche Driving Experience was worthwhile for some ppl in this forum, I bet! u know who-lar....

PROFESSIONAL DRIVING EDUCATION is always WORTHWHILE.....let me assure u this!

Oh...i see. Not only its free but if you are indeed one of the chosen ones, you will be paid as well. :)

That fella always talk about getting a Porsche but never buy also....talk is CHEAP!:p :D

That's what I said, the Instructor Recruitment Drive is free of course. Its what they intend to do with the instructors...

The HPDEs they will offer will not be free but they're subsidized by BMW. They charge less than the cost of tires, fuel, wear and tear, the instructor's time etc Its part of their marketing strategy (an awesome one at that!). Its what makes the marque and its what will set themselves apart from the competition in Malaysia.

BMW's hosted many Ultimate Driving Experiences events here in the US which are free and very well run. Its sort of a sampler into BMW culture AND the performance center. I can say that the events played no part in my consideration of the E90 but I'd be lying. The marketing works!

This is a great step for BMW enthusiasts and buyers in Malaysia.

aletigermo: Thanks for your inputs/insights. So...will BMW Malaysia, offer a performance center delivery option in the near future? :D

KL2DC,

The immediate plan is to kick start the BMW Driver Training this year, like what is currently being offered in neighbouring countries i.e Thailand, Singapore. As for the performance center delivery options...i have no idea.

And yes.... once certified as BMW Instructors, you will get an allowance/fee for every BMW DT conducted.

As for the BMW DT cost for participants.... it's affordable and reasonable...i can assure you. just wait and see ;)

Cool!

Club members will be able to wring out BMW's finest NYCs (Not Your Car's) :D

Please keep us informed/updated. You might want to talk to the organizers/committee about sponsoring a banner ad for the BMW Driver Training program.

Hi geoffreylee,

you can download the BMW instructor academy application criteria doc from bmw.com.my. Click on the recruitment web banner and follow the instruction.

As long as you are malaysian, holds a valid driving license, have good communication skills and able to commit to the dates highlighted in the doc, you are eligible to apply.

Dont worry too much about advance driving skills, that will be taught in the academy

To add to aletigermo, they're looking for the usual things: outgoing personality, enthusiasm, passion, interest, social skills....

I've met some of the instructors here in the US, and they're awesome and cool. Very fun to spend time with.

If you're trying out, it doesn't hurt to brush up on your BMW 101 ;) You can start with the wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMW

KL2DC,

you not interested to become an instructor?

I would love nothing more. I've attended my share of HPDEs from various manufacturers (the last BMW related was the E92 335i Ultimate Driving Experience in Florida) BUT alas, I'm not based in Malaysia :( I think I'd be good at being one though...thanks for asking :)

Here's the link to my 335i outing: http://www.bmwclubmalaysia.com/forums/kl2dcs-e92-335i-t8588.html?t=8588

Out of all the HPDEs I attend, I always look forward to BMW's the most. They are always well run with a clear message. I hope you guys maintain the standard in Malaysia. GL with everything :)

if you guys who are interested have seen the calendar, and can commit to those dates, and are not affiliated with any other automobile manufacturer, go for it. If you do get selected, its definitely an opportunity of a lifetime. you stand to lose nothing.

There will definitely be many experienced racing drivers..etc. who will go for this selection, but one thing is for sure, they're not just looking for outright skill, but as kl2dc mentioned, personality counts as well.. They're basically looking for the whole package, not just a good driver, but someone who can represent and communicate what the brand stands for.

But do remember, being an instructor isn't all about fun.. sure, you'll get lots of fun as well, but your main job is to teach, and indirectly "sell" the brand.

Saw the 1st video.....somehow I am nervous to see a car, a person and even a buggy on the infield. I can imagine someone losing the rear, overcorrecting and spearing into them which I must add are on grass hence stopping or steering to avoid is easier said than done.

Well, maybe its just me.....nervous behind the wheel!

Well the cars aren't going that fast. Besides its also the instructor's job to look out for possible trouble before they happen and instruct participants away ;)

Does multiple sessions at PNDC count???? Shows we have good night vision too.......

Yes 1+2=3... agreed with your statement.

As i have mentioned earlier, Driving skills can be taught. what's important is to have the charisma and the personality to be a BMW instructor.

good luck to all applicant!
