Brothers ,I am having a Kohjinsa UMPC. I already with a Media Engine Front End Software. I have Garmin Mobile PC installed in it. Working perfectly with Malfreemaps. Actually i am using the GMPC with a paired Nokia E66. Using the internal GPS receiver. I am left with 2 Major things to do. One is to attach OBD Scan into my netbook and a holder place. Windscreen mounting for the netbook is proved too obtrusive. Any E39'ers installed laptop or UMPC in their car ? The next thing in my mind is to Replace cd changer with car2pc Aux in solution.

Can be done - Tv Tuner , XM Radio , Internet , Phonenet( connecting HP), while running pc.. there is no limit what u can add. ya bluetooth tire pressure monitoring system...hmm possible.. ?
My suggestions for the problem mention above :
OBD scan tool - Ebay ? connector to OBD port ending with usb.
AUX in - 1)change Casssete player to CD player and add Aux in Module to it. Estimated cost US500
2)Remove Cd Changer and replace with Car2pc module. Estimated cost US80. Still can use steering MF buttons
Mounting - I got no idea man.. tak sampai hati.. to drill or hack E39 interior.. Any members...done this b4 ?

1) I don't find USD500 worth investing in just to add aux in. There must be a more cost effective way. We shall try to find out alternatives.
2) As for mounting, perhaps can try modify those celfon/ pda mountings, suction-attach to windscreen type.
I find the front shelf area above the aircon/ center console relatively flat, a viable space to lay the PC perhaps on a piece of anti-skid rubber pad. 'tho not really a solid footing. But the display screen will be more distance away from the driver.
I've just got my e39 for less than a month, and bringing the stereo system to a more up-to-date setup is also on my tudu list. Maybe we can meet up and share? Me also in JB.

Updates : PayPal account still on verifying process , items in watched list are ELM 327 Usb scanner , bmw 20 pin to 16 Pin obd2 converter , Car2pc interface.Kohjinsha floor mount bracket. Will buy once Paypal verified.
For the frontend software - Ride Runner is open source but not for pc beginners like me. Centrafuse easy to use.. but easy to crash too. Media Engine is easy to use , stable but no much plugins or not really canggih. Still deciding. Btw centrafuse u need to pay after trial ends.

update- my car2pc interface box arrived from US. total cost USD117 plus shipping. will attempt to fix it tomoro. the package is inclusive of Interface box, trunk mounting cable , usb to interface connector and driver disk. wish me luck.. hopefully can use.. Or else i gonna become the Berani Bodoh Guinea Pig..
Ok Guys.. The Car2pc interface does work !!! Stereo n its clear without any buzzing noise. Very straight forward installation. Just plug out 2 cables from ur cd changer and fix it to the box. u are good to go.. tested using my LG viewty and Netbook.. very good sound quality.. Now i need to extend the 3.5mm jack all the way up to cabin area.

Sorry bros.. been sometime since i last login.. will get the pics soon. i am not decided yet.. whether gonna use my netbook as GPS n multimedia or.. get a highend gps which plays multimedia.. Will upload the things needed once my digicam is back.
p/s: Latest gadget installed. Tyre Pressure Monitoring System. Rm578 after conversion. It checks ur tire pressure and temperature on real time. The brand i bought is called TyreDOG - TD1000x( external sensors). Google it
