Inspection messageToday just got an "Inspection" message above my service interval bars whenever I switch on the engine. It goes off a few secs later.Car has clocked 150,000km...and I always change the mineral oil at 5,000km interval and any other parts I deem needs changing such as hoses and filters. General servicing every 3 months in other words.I had just serviced the car two months ago. Should I just ignore the Inspection message or would there be any serious repercussions if I do? If not, can I just get the mechanic to reset the computer so that the Inspection message does not show up every time i start up the car?Note:E36, 1994, 325i

you can reset yourself with your key and a few press of the buttons

Just had Jason Foo Of Optimum, Kaya Aru, PJ, to reset the computer FOC.

Message is just an indicator and as long as car goes for regular servicing, car should be alrite, says he.

Not good of your mech to say that it's just an indicator. It show it's time to do inspection and change of important items per maintenance schedule, eg timing belt, brake fluid, gearbox oil, etc. Regular servicing doesn't cover these thing. For instance if you haven't changed the timing belt by 150k, you're living dangerously. The serious repercussion there is a wrecked top-end costing many $$k to repair. That's good news for your mech of course!

If you drop your car at AB ( Auto Bavaria ) they will reset the inspection message right after the service. It will countdown again from 25,000km but advisable to service again when it reach 13,000km then. This is just for indication that usually non-AB shop paste sticker triggering Next Service.
