Hi all sifus out there,I have a few questions regarding my E30 that I need help:1. speedometer reading not accurate, last checked on Kerinchi Link which shows an upwards of 15km/hr(i.e. actual speed shld be 65km/h, but needle points 80km/h). My tyre is 185/65 R14, any effect on the reading?2. how can I reset the service inspection indicating meter after every service? any special device for it, or can I just change the pins manually?3. power windows all except 1 not functioning. Anybody has spares to sell? thanks.:top:

Hi Bro,

1. How do you know your speed should be 65km/h and not 80km/h?
How do you make the comparison? 195/65/14 is stock tyre size compare to
185/65 R14 will be not much diff.

2. You may learn how to reset the service indicator from this link base on your e30 model. http://www.noren.com/bmw/e30reset.htm

3. Which power window is not functioning? Front R/L or Rear R/L? Run a check first which parts is faulty. It might be the push button switch or wiring or the power window motor. Sometimes by just giv a knock at the door it will work.

mkow, best advise is please visit nearest E30 specialist. several things can cause incorrect speedometer reading, and lots more can make the power windows kaput..

Thanks for your advice. I got the speed reading from the Kerinchi Link speed detecting board. I guess it shld be right, coz when I drive my Toyota, the readings match it's speedometer, but not my E30.

Only the driver side power window is working. I tried to work on the Rear L motor, but unsuccessful. Check the fuse, it's ok. Checked the switch, can't find any fault. At least the Front L gives some click sound when I press the button. So I think the motor is jammed, maybe with some oiling will help. So I guess the "knock" may do the trick. I intend to get the motors out. Do you know of any site where I can get the manual to do this? I have Haynes, but it is not detailed enuf.

I will opt for this when I am really out of ideas, which I think it will be very soon. But I still wish to try and see what is the actual problem, otherwise, u know, these "specialists" always has their parangs behind their back. he..he..

Anyway, I appreciate your reply.

TQ:wink:

Try any electrical (vehicle) shop. They should be able to spot on the problem. Just did mine. Simple cleaning on motor. It was on/off problem for past couple years. Now no more issue.
