hi all,its joe koo here, i am new here and just introduced myself at the newbie section. i cant sleep tonight so hope you guys here can help me with something bothering me.had a good run with a blue e39 528i tonight with my cayman on a clear stretch of road on my way back. this e39 is fast, really damn fast, my car cant even pull away or even overtake him on a 50kmh rolling start. i almost maxed out on that clear road running after him but my phone rang at mid run and i had to back off. but fate have it that we meet again on the coming traffic light. i gave him a thumbs up for a good run but feeling sore, i signal for a drag at the flash of green with my finger. we go off the line smoothly, minimal wheel spin, again the e39 beat me by almost 1 car length this time. i swallow my defeat and flash for game over. guys, this is what is bothering me. i have ran my cayman with my friend's 545i countless time and i know the outcome with my cayman winning every time. on a power to power comparison would show a clear winner in the 545i with a huge torque advantage over this e39s, so it doesn't make sense how this e39 can be so fast. so what is this e39 running under the hood. it looked stock except for a rear twin tip exhaust box from the rear. thats it. turbo, supercharged? dont think so as it sounded really stock.Anyone know this blue e39 Wxx XXX or the driver? hope you guys dont take this as a race on the highway. its not. i was just on my way home at 3am in the morning and feeling the need to use the toilet urgently. so i was highlighting or flashing any cars in my path. sorry if i may have scared anyone on my toilet run.
i met the blue e39 528i on the fast lane. he's on a leisurely drive. i flashed him a few times from 100m. he moved, so as i was passing him i honk to say thanks but i think i must have did it the wrong way and instigated a duel instead. i had already dropped in 3rd while waiting for him to move. so as i try going off on my toilet run, he easily follow up. its a very clear road for another few kms ahead so he step, i step on it. his car passed me and its at least one and half car length ahead. i almost maxed out my cayman, until it can't go any faster on that road.
we met again at the traffic light in front. thumbs up for a good run indeed. he smile, i smile. but me feeling sore and undefeated, i initiated a drag at the lights and my cayman lost again. WTH. now i admit my defeat and swallow my pride. but what is powering that e39.

its not a alpina b10. are there any on malaysian roads? anyway the car has not stripes or bodykit of that sort. he has a mild and subtle kit. i think its a msports kit. not the m5 ones. and i know its a confirmed 528i, it sounded exactly like my e60530i and shy to mention it, that emblem is all i can see from the back.....sigh...

i dont think its supercharged. it sounded very decent and stock. if you have a candidate do refer me to the owner? on top of the cuppa and cigar, i hope you enjoy a smooth single malt as well.

Yes there are 2 units of alpina B10 that i know and one of them has an 528i badge at the rear.

sorry for killing the "steam" as they called it. but i have a gentleman's agreement with the owner on the non-divulging of his car's specification and his identity for privacy issues. in due time, maybe when he is ready, it will be his call to release news.
from my calculation based on the car's speed and performance, the car has close to 330hp and 400nm of torque at any time from its 6potter, this is all i can revealed.

NAh, whats the fun in that? if i want a faster porsche, i will just trade in the cayman and get a 997 turbo or a gt2. anyway, the cayman is already factory tuned by TEch Art with a more aggressive tuning. the next step in power hike for my cayman would cost me a cool 50k for a 3.8 stroker or close to a 100k for a Ruf 3800k stroker + supercharger kit. economically feasible? nah, i might as well get the 911 right?

Yeah baby! I love stealthy ride... if lose also your face won't drop and you won't have sleepless nights like the time the cayman been trashed.. But if u won, the experience will hunt others at night made them wondering what u have under your hood.. Cool!
Agree with joecool. What's the point of upgrading cayman? You will surely have more fun using an average looking UDM trashing other caymans..
