:stupid::stupid:HelloNew member to this club. Came back to Malaysia from the UK for retirement. Shipped back my E39 525iI suppose to prevent overheating, it is essential to change the thermostat to suit local climateCan any member advice on suitable thermostat replacement?Apart from this, are there any essential modification requirements to Malaysian specs.? ?

Welcome home... I think the first thing is to look for a Bimmer specialist to check and advise you.

you're on the right track to check the cooling system first. but do not limit to thermostat only. check the entire cooling system especially if your current system has been used for more than 40k km. quite a bit to look into: expansion tank, hoses, plastic screws, water pump, radiator etc. a compression test would be good to start with. i can recommend u my trusted mechanic.
