Hi guys,

Thanks for the update. I called up a Meguiar outlet called Ardy's in PJ and somebody there told me that a basic(?) detailing will cost RM500 for my Z4(small size job). He thinks it will last for 1 year but if I wash the car regularly with the 'right' products and have it polished/waxed every 3 months with the 'right' products, then it may last longer. Are the cost, before buying the 'right' products, and timeline about fair? Will the 'right' products cost a bundle?

There other thing to note is if later the cost become too prohibitive and you stop the usual maintenance, will the paint work deteriorate to even worst than a normal coat before detailing?

waxing every 3 months is abit optimistic with our kind of weather conditions. What type of wax you use also determines how long you can leave it before you apply the next layer. (sealants usually last longer)

no, not detailing your car will just mean it will revert back to the pre-detailed state over some time.

if i find some time to detail my car including prepping (clay, machine polishing, etc) I will let you know. I am in KL city centre though.

I get my car detailed at Carnauba (Zymol) about once every 3 months or so, with DIY polishing (Turtlewax ICE) every 3-4 weeks in between (good exercise!). So far am quite happy with the results/cost.

Bro, since you are into detailing, you can try this product FK1000P. Its brilliant for light colored car, espcially silver. It gives u layer of wet clear coat look, plus durability.

Also take a look on how the water disperse and beads when you wash your car after you have layered it with FK1000, and you will be amazed.
