Did you see the vane come back when you peep?

Ahh.. If the idling speed is OK at N or P position, I don't think the problem could be due to the AFM or the ICV.

Please check the gear selection switch. Sometime this worn out contact on the gear selection switch would also cause the problem. You can inspect this switch condition by removing the cover of the gearshift. It only cost you about RM180 to change this switch if it is faulty or worn out.

BTW, this switch failure also cannot be diagnose with modic. Only a very experience mechanic can know this when he/she test drive the car.. You should considered seriously to change your mechanic. Look up the List of workshop that is used by other forummers.

As the automatic have been rebuilt, I sure the filter and the AFT have been changed. So it unlikely to be the cause of the tranny to fail or malfunction. Failure of solenoid for the gearbox is also monitored and registered as alarm.
Bro jarance,

Thanks for the tip. I have changed the gear selection switch. Problem not solved. I will definitely change my mechanic:mad:

Nathan,

Find a good mechanic to clean the ICV for you. In my case DIY is a bit of a problem because with the M40 engine, you need to take the manifold out of the way before you can reach the ICV. In my case the ICV went caput after paying RM75 for the cleaning job. It didn't happen at the workshop but immediately the night after. The ICV just jammed and I end up paying RM600 for a new one.

Good Luck:D

Hi Mizuan,

thanks forthe advise man.........yalah will take the car in...just that very busy this few days.........

if u dun wanna burn your pocket very easy, step on the gas pedal and start your car, sure can work. i did that for few month

Hi Mizuan, Mouse,

This morning, could not stand the blady fluctuations in the idling so just took over the car to my reliable machanic and he said he idle valve was leaking......

so changed it for me immediately - RM280...... and so far the car seams to be fine.......

If u guys have problem like mine that engine keep dying after cranking and u need to step on the gas pedal to start and if found out that there is no leak or whatsoever, pls dont change your idle control valve first if the mechanic say most likely is the ICV problem. ask him to clean the throttle body and your existing ICV first, then if the problem still presist only u change a new ICV. the problem here is most likely your dirty throttle body with carbon builtup clogging up your ICV , so even after changing to new ICV but did not clean your throttle body, the same thing will happen again after 1 month and your new ICV will be clogged again. so just ask your mechanic to service/clean the whole throttle body inculding your old ICV, and only if problem still presists only u change to a new ICV.

Mouse...sori ah. I didnt notice that you posted a question for me. I think the mech bought them from Bavarian Auto Jalan Ipoh at RM590.

Neway...my car is back to normal after almost 4-5 months of rattling and shuddering. God answered my prayer. Brought the car to the same mech who rebuilds the gearbox...ask him to redo the whole process again and voila!...she's back in business.. with zero cost (warranty honoured...at last:rolleyes:).

Yo guys....

apparetly the ICV price has increased last week.....now 750........

just did mine at mlaju last week

Where to have my ICV and TB cleaned? Some say it only cost RM50.

I did it at BMWSpecialist Batu Caves. Unfortunately it went caput after the job and I have to change to a new one. Its not the fault of the mech as I have been warned before he took it out. Just make sure that its the ICV that is the problem not other things. In my case its the latter. I thought of saving a few bucks by tryin out cleanin the ICV but ended up worst.

BTW, I dont remember how much but I think it costs about RM50 to do the job.

Good luck. Remember the ICV price has gone up.

Haiyo..

wat is wrong with your car ler dude? gatal again ka.....?

Item 2 is ICV ofr M43 engine. Item 1 is the TPS (Throttle Postion Sensor).

TPS basically is a resisitor which changes value when the accelerator is depressed by your foot.

Thanks so much Jarance!!

Can I take the ICV out and spray it with WD40?

Can the car run without the ICV? Will the FC be higher? When I disconnect the ICV, the car still run and rpm is stable
