Van, the above is not in your E36 right?? Update your profile la...

Saat, use your handphone speakers to replace the stock speakers la. Could be slightly better. Once you've installed yours, let us know. Boleh ICE TT

I think what we can do next is revive the CD reference collection thread. Is it still available? Let me check. Heck.. cannot find.. Not sure what search string to use. 'CD' is to short.

Woit!

Can you not hijack the thread, basket ? Post you own system or go away!!! :getyourfactsright:

This is not a place to compare who has the most expensive/nicest/loudest system - it's just an exercise to learn of various set-ups within the club so that those who wants to jump into ICE wud have an idea of where to start. And NO .... I am not rich - these are just gears that I have accumulated over the last couple of years and changed them as I went along. Now you know why I don't even have money to go drinking with you at times ...

Hahahahaha !!! Abang Saat ... THAT was our intention with this thread. A set up so fine like yours CANNOT be sitting in a box la! I will willingly trade an arm just for that Helix amp of yours ... the rest you can keep la !!! :p

Come on, do get it set up and allow us to sit and enjoy the tunes in your new ride soon ... BTW, Abang Yazid seems to have bitten to the ICE bug somewhat .... I shall place him in your infectious hands to guide him over .... ( to the Dark Side la! ) :nyehehe:

Affan,

It is STILL in my faithful 3er, la. Haven't changed car yet la ... :)

Yup ... there was a nice thread on CDs that we are listening to or something like that. Let's go and find it to continue where we left off.

Cheers,

As per Van's request, hee hee.

As for the bella, nothing much in there, all old stuff but works quite well in the car. Here's what's I loaded it with.

1) 1 4ch Trusound amp by Tehnichi
2) 2 Tehnichi blade monoblock x-overs
3) 1 Tehnichi Blade 18 db active crossover with variable bass knob
4) a pair of OZ silk dome tweeters and 5" mids
5) 1 subwoofer (enclosed)
6) OSf's old HU

Usual setup, one ch each for left & right, 2ch bridged to drive the sub. HU into AMP, active x-over generally flat but using the 18db rollover for the bass frequencies only. Rest of the separation done by the monoblocks. Only limitation with the setup is that the dashboard is pretty shallow (about 6") hence it's a bit trickly to generate the depth but separation is fantastic. Nelson30 was there when I collected the wheels and had a shock when he heard the "voices" coming from dead centre. hee hee.

I wanted to load it up with my 3 Blade valve monoblocks but the alternator couldn't take it. Next step would be to hide the HU I guess.

More pics to follow as the car is not with me now.

Neat, WJ.

Now that's a simple set-up that cud really sing! A dash like that helps staging and imaging very much ... depth is somewhat immaterial when these 2 aspects suffer. Looks to me like the tweets have been angled to fire onto the centre of the windscreen ... And judging from what you've posted, it seems like you've got everything covered ... with excellent channel separation too without any T/A! Simon's magic at work again, eh ?

P/S - What happened to the system that you had in your 5er ? Did it go with the ride when you sold it ?

Cheers,

Ah...that system? Nope. The amps are still in the box but I took out a pair of the Blade x-overs + the 18DB active x-over. Also used the pair of OZs (I found something interesting speakers at Simon's for my new ride, you should check out his new amps + speakers. It's mind blowing). I was thinking of fitting it in the Giulia but the alternator couldn't handle it. Well, the dash is a bit too narrow relative to the relatively upright screen hence it is a bit difficult to give the soundstage depth that an audiophile would like to have. The "songbird" is now much "closer" to you, it's like you are just standing a couple of feet away. However, separation is magical. I must have been nuts to ice this classic up.

WJ,

What new toys does he have with him now ? The newer PHD models ? Gotta drop by his place the next time I'm up in KL ...

Nah .. nothing beats the engine note of the bella .... but it's good to have something to play a different tune when you just wanna cruise and soak up the surroundings. Yeah, upright screens are wee bit harder to tune but it's classic you've got there. Eva sounds that good, eh ? An audition beckons soon if you're available when I am up there.

Cheers,

Not PHDs but some Japanese stuff, would you believe it?? It's darn sweet sounding. I can't recall the brand but the amps are Mosfet driven based on valve designs. Solid performance. It's P something.

Dude,

You've just been PHASSed !!! .... sweet, sweet stuff. This one takes the term exotic car audio to a whole new height .... with a KILLER price tag to boot. Heard a couple of their amps at a friend's place who's also their unofficial sales agent in M'sia. It takes on just about anything EU or US manufacturers can throw at it in the realm of exotic ICE. Here's a link to their website -

Yup, PHASS it is. It's just too good to be true. Coupled with the old man's magic x-overs, I went crazy in an Estima install with two Butlers and one mega big mama PHASS amp complete with Phass speakers. I really thought I was in a concert hall. Now, where do I start saving?
