The last time i my friend cleaned the MAF, it cost him to change a new unit.

May I know what your friend did to farked up his MAF during cleaning. I have DIY mine and a couples of friends without much problem. Might want to avoid doing the same things. Thanks.:top:

Update...

Just got back from Stuttgart with bad news..

They tried to replace MAF with a new unit but no improvement on the juddering part...

So now they suspect its a gearbox...they need to be change/recondition and was quote 7k plus for this..

Any opinion guys?

find somebody else for second opinion. :listen:

before you decide to overhaul your GB, try to change to "sport" mode. Does the RPM still hunts?

Last time i have mine Gearbox problem also, but M1 did solve for me. Safe me alot $$ instead change to new GB. U can go ask the boss called Casey, said Perry intro to u. I suspect ur car might be the solenoid problem, cause solenoid is giving the electric power to ur gearbox.

This means the engine RPM also went up and down? The reason I asked this is bcos my E30 also has neddle went up and down but the actual engine RPM did not. This is due to the sensor issue only.

Its the both bro...

Though they said its a gearbox problem, when i drive it, the gear change is rather smooth..

How i wish i can find somebody/workshop that can pin point the problem and get it solved..

I guess Alfa is not bad afterall...

I use the one in M1 for about 10 years. Never try the branch at Kayu Ara even it is nearer.

The workshop at Segambut have 10 motorised lifter and can works on many cars. Hence waiting time is minimal. Let me know the outcome if you try M1 at KA. I presume if they cannot detect your problem, they can refer to the Ah Meng at Segambut.

Now, it's ok already... he said it has problem with the air hose.. it's leak. i don't know which part... but he change the part already.... I'm New to BMW.

yes lost of vacuum would also cause the RPM to fluctuate and sometime would stall the engine.

it could be due to some leaking hose. I have expericence the the rpm flactuation like what you face previosly and once i change to new hose it work fine till now. i don't think it is GB. maybe your doctor prescribe stomach ache medicine for your headache

last resort...got to do the gearbox...

gonna pick up the car today...but i did told stuttgart if the problem persist, i'm not going to pay a single cent...they said ok..

will share the outcome later...

Update...

At last...refurbished the GB and its now in a top notch condition....

Now only can i drive with a peace of mind..

All in all, spent 7k ish for the GB..
