Just recently got my e46 (318, N46B20), did an oil change and experienced oil leak issue first hand. Took it to mech and had it fixed by changing the oil seal and gaskets, etc. That burned my hard earn $$$ :( . And that's how i began my journey of owning an UDM.

With that problem solved, I start to notice that whenever I accelerate there's a weird whirring/whining or humming sound coming from the engine. Initially I suspect it was probably due to a bad torque converted - but since shifting of gears work perfectly fine and i didn't experience any power loss during acceleration, that could not be the case. The car works fine with exception of the strange whirring noise. (it's like you have a supercharger under the hood)

Did anyone here encounter such similar issue and any suggestion to fix it? Any help from sifus is much appreciated :)

Might be the pulley getting worn out but it does need to be replaced after certain mileage. Best get it checked at the mechanic.

I notice mine sound as it claim when rpm between 2000 to 2500. Above it sounds gone....what can it be?
