yes exactly !

if u want a worry-free vehicle, then choose TOYOTA or HONDA, what u need to do is just fill up with petrol n drive, every 5k or 10k , change engine oil, thats all !

Best is that when you ask the SA before buying, if BMW got probs, you get a resounding NO. None of their customers ever had ANY probs la. LOL!!!

jennypenny there. I thought she (or he?) have a 911 and a Cayenne S. But reading again the 911 is someone else's.

guys,

its her. and no 911. only old Cayenne S (which is not mine but my dad's) and it is used daily without any issues.

My car has this whirring/whinning sound as well. Its like 'aeroplane sound', when accelerate in low rpm. Bmw has yet to rectify the problem. Everything seen alright w computer checked. Waiting their rectification...........

i drove without the radio switched on. as we were all chit chatting in the car. i now need to find time to get the car fixed. because the sound my car now makes sounds like my Kancil back (when braking) when i was learning how to drive.

Can we switched off our f30 radio?

i believed most of u owning the 1st bmw here(upgrading from jp), when later on, u own 2nd then 3rd bmw.......u will get use to visit ws frequently.

Bmw gives u good handling n performance but not reliability (not only bmw, but most conti as compare to jp)

u can ask those owners who have already owned a few bmw b4, to them, a bmw giving trouble is no longer a surprise. If a bmw gives them "trouble free", then it definitely will give them a shock !!

lolllllllllllllllllllllll

omggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg

jenny and all, could it be the new technology (turbo-charging) that BMW is using on their new engine? I've got the F30 as a substitute car when I sent mine for servicing. As expected, its a quite worn out car which is almost 1 year old. The engine sound is so loud that it almost sounded like a diesel. Is that normal?

It's a direct injection engine ...

Direct injection= fuel system , diff engine component than turbocharger...
Or do you mean it's a naturally aspirated engine?

Slips ... Direct injection with high pressure helps fuel economy but can create a diesel type pinging sound. So am wondering if its that.

The whirring sound upon accelerating? i notice this sound too. like the turbo spooling but on a different loan car i drove there was no sound... seems to depend on the car/batch...my 320d no such sound but can hear it on the 328i

hi Jenny, may i know whether the "whirring noise" problem has been rectified?

i am experiencing the same problem, the humming/whirring sound seems to be more evident after revving and when the car is on eco-pro mode. am sure the problem emanates from something in the air cond system, as the noise would be gone immediately after turning off the aircond (with the fan remaining on). The noise is not present all the time though, maybe 60-70%.

so accordingly dealer didn't hear the noise despite taking the car out for a drive. then they had the compressor diagnosed, but no problems detected. so they cant order any part. been driving for 2 months with this problem, from the very first day. dealer is asking from more input from me but really i cant describe the problem anymore. Would appreciate more discussion on this as i know very little about car especially BMW.

Take the SA for a test drive and try to trigger the same sound. It's difficult to identify the source if the problem is intermittent. You just have to try.
