bro you have done 3 out of 4 recommendations from astroboy, perhaps the wheel bearing is the culprit?

Hi Bros and gurus,

I have a similar problem, mine is the 320i E90 2006, and was informed that the Rear Diff is the culprit.....

i am having the funny sound and can't seem to figure it out, i noticed this about 2 months back and its getting louder, kinda wang, wang, wang sound. its starts around 70km/h till about 85km/h, and above 85km/h it disappears. only occurs at a certain speed. i have changed the front wheel bearings and that didn't help either. Its something mechanical...i guess...not tyres either...

Hope you can hear it on the video here, kinda obvious around the 1.40min mark of the video....

Help and inputs are much appreciated as this is driving me nuts:huhhuh

any idea of a good workshop in KL/Klang Valley area? any bros changes the Rear Diff?

Can i get it at the Half Cart shop?

Thanks

zeedo is right! Selective speed humming is not the wheel bearing. Can possibly be differential box. Try changing the rear diff oil.

What is rear diff oil?. Any explaination?. Thanks for info.

the rear differential needs lubrication for the crown wheel and pinion shaft inside. this one needs to be replenished. is good idea to replace with new lubricant (hypoid) plus with some liqui moly friction modifier. so the whining will be reduced.
