Both my side mirrors of E34 are full with water marks. Has anyone from the forum experience in removing it? One of the car wash centre tried their water mark removal on one of the mirror. Result: water mark removed but the color of the mirror runs!! :(

use wax to remove it...

Does wax really work? Please tell us what kind of wax, brand or stuff like that? Any cleaning technique???

I have water marks on my side mirrors too!

I remember NumberTwo mentioning that can try toilet bowl cleaner apparently but make sure you wash it properly after using.

Wax, AG glass polish doesn't work on mine.

but I thought, mirrors are different from windows. I know windows, you can use toilet bowl cleaner, as evidenced by numbertwo. But, mirrors, is a different coating. I went to this window cleaning shop, they said, they can clean windows, but not mirrors, cos the detergent or whatever will make it non-reflective.

any ideas? numbertwo, you used it on your mirrors too? the tbc?

Strange why that should be the case since the reflective part of the mirror is at the back and shouldn't make a difference what you use to clean the glass as long as it is clear.

Hi, tried with wax & polish. Only cleaning the surface but it seems that the water marks has penetrated into the mirror. Anyone know how to replace it DIY?

TOilet bowl cleaner

HI all..any brand for the toilet bowl cleaner ? My water marks on the glass
is BAD..need to remove it all asap.

Tks./Dom

try goin to car polish specialist centre. they have a glass polish which will remove old water marks.

Hi bohtak...

thanks but i'm looking at DIY...example...when i got my e34..it had a lot of old
sticker that need to come out...people told me to get products like 'glu away' etc etc..spen something like 20rm..and a lot of elbow grease..then i bought a tin of lighter fluid..:D ...you get the pic ?

So going to the polish shops..and if not getting results...i'd be dissapointed...
so i'd rather DIY first while in the meantime look at polish shops...if you know of such establishments..please let me know. Will check them out.

tks.dom

DIY? wont be so effective la.. but you can try vinegar and some hand muscles, but if water marks are too old or stubborn, im afraid only polish shops can remove the water marks.

autosol

the answer- autosol the gold one. brasso also does the job, on paint use rubbing compound(lightly) then wax it up. ez man

What material is the side mirror made of? Is it clear plastic with silver coating at the back or glass?

Agree with Lee36328, particularly if the mirror is plastic. Not worth the effort. Has anyone found out how much it costs to replace the mirrors?

DIY?, use no.1500 sand paper, spray water while you sand the mirror, visual check after each time, don't over sand! good luck.
