How to get back the performance?

I don’t ask too much. Just want my e90 325i perform like its glorious day. My 0-100kph is not around 7.7 to 8.2 second* anymore. Now it’s somewhere between 9.8 to 10 solid second*.
*Tested on the same flat road.

You can:

1. Try to reset the adaptation and drive it pretty hard while it's learning.
2. Clear up those carbon build ups.
3. Run those Caltex Techron concentrated fuel additive (run this every 5k KM).
4. Check your air filter and MAF sensor, could be dirty.

I did 1 & 4, gotta say it helped a lot with the responsiveness. I have yet to try 2 but helped many.

What's your mileage? Any modifications to your car? Wheels/exhaust etc.

Fuel additive is to keep off carbon build ups and "clean" the injectors. I'm not sure if you'll benefit any but it's 50 bucks per bottle.

Do you happened to be caught up in traffic everyday?

My 2010 car mileage is 93,000km++ No modification ever made and I live around 2.5km from work. Never get caught up in traffic. I read in overseas bmw forum, too much short distance is also bad for engine. So once a week I will take a good long ride with some high revving drive.

Ok, when was the last time you changed your plugs? If you have not then it'll def help restore some lost power.

Yup what I meant was reset transmission adaptation. You can try checking the plugs, if you haven't changed them in awhile that might help restore performance and fuel economy.

Hi bro gendong, I Was reading a few forums outside and they kept saying that changing coils and spark plugs together isn't a necessity. Coils will last long if sparks are changed regularly. Do you agree?

In my record, i changed my spark plug on 11 May 2016.
Haven’t change fuel filter. Should try that too.
Fuel consumption is really bad. Even i live 2.5km from work, but need to climb up 1km hill everyday when back from work. Sigh..

7.9km/l mix....used to get around 8.7-8.9km/l......just changed the plugs last year @110k KM....

For ur case, I believe transmission service+reset are the best bet to get back their performance

Transmission oil and filter changed on 4 Feb 2017.
Done the adaptive reset too. I think it’s like the dead end.

Yes i have to agree with u. Since spark plugs were changed, i wld assume that the ignition coils have not. Overtime, yes the coil performance might deteriorate, as it is a wear n tear part. Our inline-6 sometimes its hard to detect a misfire. I had sort of a same issue last time, where acceleration as pretty much 'delayed', no excessive shaking of the engine. Upon checking, 2 of my coils were damaged/broken... yes patah. dont know how it happened, and probably mine was an isolated case. changed to new coils n power was restored. smoother acceleration.

Build-up might occur in the fuel filter over the years, creating blockage, thus resulting in erratic fuel supply. Might want to check.

Rather than guessing about loss of performance etc. have you considered putting it on a rolling road? They will be able to calculate the engine power output for you to gauge it against the rated performance. They may also be able to suggest what is wrong, if anything.

You mean dyno the car? For now I’m using BT OBD with Torque Pro app to measure 0-100kph. Tested on the same road. It’s enough to show how sluggish my car from the result. But ya, dynoing the car is more accurate.

Dyno cost a hundred for 5 runs I think, can't really remember where tho.

Which BT OBD do you use? And how much and where did you get it?

Got mine too from there but doesn't work anymore. Worked for a week and just never works anymore, uh.

About the performance, susah sangat slap in supercharge je la. Haha.
