Can any sifu here share the simplest and most effective way to check if one's absorber need changing.Secondly, I am always confused. Where is the best place to go to check/change suspension related things like absorber etc. (other than AB please)Is it better to go to the BMW specialist or the (specialist) tyre shop? Thanks in advance

simplest??? stand nxt to ur ride....if ur checking if ur front needs new absorbers, stand by the fender, place palm above the wheel arch and press hard enough tht u can c the car dip with pressure and let go...if car dips and bounces a couple of times thn it shld nd changing...same goes for the rear absorbers...

or another 1 is whn ur driving on the highway,if ur ridebounces and feels more like a rocking horse thn a car thn it also may need changing...

if ur using a regular mechanic thn they will suffice too...or else head on to the workshops recommended in the forum(a thread was posted titled "recommended workshops" or sumthin like tht.)

hope this helps...

Drive the car on the highway the car fell like bouncing, like potong spring-absober problem. Press the car near the absober if the car bounce fast a few time-abs problem already.

Thanks guys for the advice.

I suppose it is easy to tell if it is all gone. More difficult to tell if it is slightly gone or if it is something else.

My problem is having eneven tyre wear on the inside. The guy told me it maybe due to absorber but he dare not suggest anything rather than taking it back to a bmw specialist.

I do have some bouncing but I it is not so pronounced that sometimes I wonder if it is just psychological or something else.

Mine is a E46 318Ci. Haven't changed the absorber since I got it 15 months ago.

If PJ old town is convenient, u may get mechanical test results to support ur confirmations on the condition of your absorbers at Tayaria on Jalan Penchala for 12 bux. :D
