welcome, what problem are u facing with your new ride? so any problem? u didnt take your car for inspection with mechanic before buying?

Hi there.... thanks for your concern bro..... well, i took to 2 mechanics and they said car was in good condition except for few leaks to be done. my mechanic said that it would cost about rm 1000 only for this to be done.... well.... in a week my vacuum pump was leaking cost me rm 780. then after that my brake servo pump cost me rm 500 and then radiator heating up , change some hoses cost me rm 500 and then only i found out my exhaust was smoking white smoke at times and also engine oil was decreasing every 500 km to about half a quart.... is this normal??? now the car in the workshop coz my tensioner was making noise... have to change it too....... good knows how much will it cost and what some more problems i will encounter..... i am scared!
what should i do ?

Bring it to an expert. Dump some money once and for all and be trouble free. That's what I did and I have no prob at all except for some minor wear here and there.

Its unfortunate that you only consulted us after the purchase was made. Otherwise, we could direct you away from a problematic car like the one you have rght now.

u cant do anything now coz u already buy it, just save more bullet ($$$) and prepared for the worst. try talking to the dealer to bear some of the cost, just try your luck

Really appreciated feedback from you all....... Well, now my cars only problem is, it is burning engine oil every 500 km 1/2 a quart.... i would like always have to check my oil every other day.... i am so irritated now.... my mechaninc told me to use the car first by topping up and checking the engine oil... he told me that my piston rings and valve seals may have worn out..... just hope not the piston and the block otherwise i would have to get a new engine and it would cost me rm 20 to 30k!!! Otherwise an overhaul will do and this type of engine it seems we cant re bore coz its made out of alloy ya..... I just dont know what to do now brothers ... what are my options? thanks to you all for listening to me...........:stupid::stupid::stupid: I was so stupid .

Regarding smoking white smoke at times from your exhaust, actually i have this topic discussed in another thread. The white smoke is water vapor that has collected in the walls of the exhaust pipes after parking overnight. In cold weather. The vapor is kind of saturated so when it exits the tail pipes thus can be seen. No harm~~ Dont worry :wink:

his problem is not only the white smoke, its his reducing engine oil, what your mechanic told u of your piston rings and valve seals is most likely correct, usual car will need an overhaul to solve the problem, but not very sure if N42 cannot be done because of alloy engine. anyone with any idea?

Mouse u are absolutely correct .... i am worried of the oil burning.... It consumes a lot u right...... The white smoke m not worried too much about it... otherwise the car is in an excellent condition ya... drives well and has power too.... no scratch on the body and interior looks new still... tires are in good condition still and i bought it for rm 97,000....... must be too cheap right? I dont know....... what to do now..... i have been topping up every week now about 1/2 a quart ya....... Any seniors or pro's out there can help me and suggestions............

Mouse u are absolutely right.... I m concerned and worried about the burning oil...... it really consumes a lot ya....... about the white smoke , its ok i think. I almost have to top up the oil every week now.... otherwise the car is ok ... it has lots of power and drives fine...... no scratches on the body and interior looks new...... i bought the car for rm 97,000... dont know its ok or not......... i am in trouble now .. hope got and good fellows out there can help me........ u guys are nice but i need severe help now...... what should i do next.........

Hi, I am suffering like u. My N42 engine oso have such heavy oil burning problem. The fastest way is doing overfaul. But very costful. I found this website from this forum. www.auto-rx.com. Pls go through the website for more details. I currently using this treatment for my engine. Afterb1500km just top up some oil. still monitoring.

malvin, nothing much to do now as most mech shops will be rushing to clear backlog and spare part shop's will be close for the raya holidays.

i have a good mech to intro to you. trusworthy, very dependable and if you will need to spend, no choice but at least you won't get slaughtered and worse...wrong diagnostics that won't solve your problem.

hi there...... would really appreciate that if u can help me on this....... just went on a long trip to kedah this raya.......my car consumes 1 litre of engine oil after running for 1500 km.. i use semi synthetic motul oil 15w-50...... what shoud i do next ....... that is too much ya...........

just took my new e46 year 2000 for a test drive to penang. no problems. mileage 98.5k when i bought it. freakin jam was horrible tho' coming back. too me blardy 9 hours
