hi, i've been to 2 workshop and they been saying my gearbox will soon come to an end. the symptom 'bila masuk gear R', gear R tak terus respond tapi akan lag/pause around 3 second. is it true what they been saying? any other way to rectify the problem without having to change the gearbox?thanks guys.

salam. it seem ur gbox nak kaput.
go to check then u can know what is relevant to you.. change it or just overhaul ur gbox..

bro go to glenmarie area u1 n find this workshop sps...safty performance parts...blue colour wkshop..they can help u....cheers

i believe the 3 sec lag is quite norm upon our ageing e36 ...by the way why not just flush the ATF and see if the problem still persist OR check on the Long shaft coupling mount .... Or maybe hop onto another ride to confirm ....

since it's only happening on the "R" gearing position it does not really tells you that ya box is gonna kaput .... unless you've already got slipping sign from 1 , 2 and D position ....

hope this helps a little ...and by the way what engine are you running on ...

these days for workshops to say G-box kaput is the fastest way to solve all the dilema and of course will be healthy sign for thier business too ....

i've overhaul the gearbox though the shifting is much smoother now but the 3 sec lag is still there...

yeah, done that and it's true the shifting is much smoother...

hhmmnn i understand the lag into reverse is a sign that the gearbox is on its way out..... but if you have overhauled it.. i guess it must be ok, i have an auto 318, theres no lag going into R, my car has 220k on the clock..

Bro,

I too face similar situation with my GM4 GB. I'm running on M50TUB25. After flushing also got 3 sec gap before the R gear is engaged but everything else is smooth, no jerking, no slip. I asked my mech about it and he says it's nothing to be worry about. I guess it's norm for run-in GB. + also changed the selenoid valve on my GB. Previously, it was the cause for my GB to go on safe mode. To date, My GB has run 283852KM and still doing alrite. Just the interval GB and filter oil change.

Just Sharing.

Cheers.
